At the edge of the world
there exists such a place
where truths and the such
help people save face
where lies go to die
and we do what we must
empirical changes
enshrouded by lust
We hide what we want
so no one can see
those things that we know
we do not want to be
but all in the end
the truth is set free
because being yourself
is what your supposed to be.
We have a word prompt this week. You are free to use the word itself or a synonym or just capture the spirit of it in your piece.
EMPIRICAL

‘being yourself
is what your supposed to be.’ You summed it up nicely.

Wow! I’m dumbstruck with the elegance of thought in stating a complex truth.
Especially the lines
where lies go to die
and we do what we must
empirical changes
enshrouded by lust

Poets do feel like a medium. I read my old pieces and think “Did I write this?” I can’t do it again, because the same thought pattern won’t strike.
