So, this is my first time having a Battle of the Bands. Visit Stephen T. McCarthy for more information http://stmccpresentsbattleofthebands.blogspot.com/
These are the two contenders:
- Led Zeppelin: Fool in the Rain
and
2. O.A.R.: Fool in the Rain
Cast your vote in the comments and I will announce the winner….not sure when but soon!

Welcome to BOTB, Christine!
The original vs a cover. OAR did alright, actually better than that they were quite good but in the end, I preferred the original. Therefore, my vote goes to LED ZEPPELIN! Great first battle, my friend. Have a bandtastic day and please come by my place when you have the time to vote in my showdown!

They’re awfully similar, so I feel like I should go with the Led Zeppelin original…

Welcome, Christine!
Just when I thought no one could ever outdo Zepplin and one of my all-time favorite songs, you almost proved me wrong! No kidding, this battle is terrific and tough. Good job! But my vote goes to Zepplin for “Fool in the Rain” Thanks – https://landmarksounds.blogspot.com/2023/08/botb-august-2023-kentucky-weird-and.html

Welcome to our group of crazies! I hope that you enjoy your stay with us.
This is a great battle! Let’s start with OAR – it started out pretty good but then it just got on my nerves. What can I say? My nerves are pretty shot these days. I finally just stopped the music and had a second listen to Led Zeppelin. Great band. I managed to get through them a second time. Let’s give my vote to them.
So .. I was snooping through your blog here. I see that you enjoy doing book reviews. I have another blog that I run over at literaryau.com I use 3 blog tour promoters, and they are always looking for people to do book reviews. Personally, I had to slow down on my reviews, even had to cut back on my reading. Thankfully they still let me do spotlights and author interviews. Once I get this cancer kicked to the curb, or feeling better, I plan to pick up the pace again. Anyway, if you’re looking to expand on your reviews, I recommend Goddess Fish Promotions, Great Escapes with DollyCas, and Silver Dagger Tours.
Again, great to have you here with us!

First, nice to meet you. Second, my hopes for wellness are being sent your way. I will look into those other groups you mention. I wish I read more actual physical books because many of the books I “read” are audiobooks, but I do miss reading. Thanks for sharing and come snoop whenever you’re up for it! ❤️

I went back and forth with this one. The Zep album is so iconic for me–so many times cruising listening to this album and this song. O.A.R tempted me. The cover was very true with some neat tricks. Loved it!
But I’m voting for Led Zeppelin

Welcome to BOTB, Christine! 🙂
The cover sounds a lot like the original and I’m betting most people will vote for Led Zep. I’ll go along with Stephen and choose O.A.R. I like the guitar riff at the start.
For BOTB I use Blogger. You can find my battle HERE. Everything else is on WordPress. Cheers!

That link took me straight-away to Debbie’s BOTB blog page.
Apparently WordPress & Blogger are like the Hatfields & McCoys.

CHRISTINE, thanks for joining us BOTBers.
For a last second, unsure, ditch-effort, you dun good!
I can remember waiting in a long, long, long line of human beings (the very *worst* kind of “beings”) at U.C.L.A. with my buddy Al, trying to get tickets to a Led Zeppelin concert in 1979 or early ’80. We were apparently too-late-to-the-party and missed out. (Obviously, that was a wee bit o’ time before one could buy concert tickets on… on… online.)
Truth be told: The first LP I ever owned was Rare Earth’s ‘Get Ready’ (a Christmas gift to my Brother and I from our parents on Christmas Day 1969 or 1970). And our second LP was ‘Led Zeppelin II’. Played it practically to death!
However, as time went on, I became less and less enamored with Led Zeppelin. BUT(!), I *did* like ‘Fool In The Rain’ because it sounded so un-Led Zep-like.
Therefore, although the cover version sounds almost exactly like the Led Zep original, I am going to vote for O.A.R. (whoever they are). Why? Why?! Because, as my Brother often says, “Because. Just because.”
(You have avoided a shutout in your first BOTB installment and… you can thank me later. 😉

POSTSCRIPT:
Someday, when I need a single vote to avoid a shutout, that’s your cue to step in and save me. Then I will be repaid and we will be “Even Stephen”. 🙂
