Sadje’s prompt guidelines
- Write: a syllabic poem or: a poem in free verse;
- Topic: “What inspires you to write?” or: “What inspires you to write poetry?”
When the mood arises and my mind seems clear
I pick up my laptop to write
I think of the things in life I hold dear
and all of the wrongs I can right.
I think of the stories stuck up in my mind
just bursting to find their way out
Its only a matter of words I can find
then my fingers seem like they could shout
They tell of the people and places I’ve been
and all of the places I’ll go
Of jobs that I’ve done and spaces I clean
and I really can’t stop the mad flow
I write it all down then read it more times
to make sure there are no mistakes
Then I sign my name to it, amidst many rhymes
So that no one will think it’s a fake.
