The reminder comes quite frequently as the days get closer, adding another year onto life without you. There is a longing to wish it all back to fall through to the past, so I may have again what I once held so dear. There is a tightness in my chest that gets warmer and warmer, constricting my airways yet allowing the bellows to come in slight whispers My jaw clenches and my body sweats with each beat of my heart, the heart that used to beat for you. The tears flow when I realize there is no turning back and forgetting is an unthinkable option. Tears are warm as they slide down my cheeks, glazing the way for more. Even on my happiest days the sadness is there and the memories, some bright, seem to hurt just the same. My mind races…
