This week the theme is to find Alternative music.
When I google the lists of music to fit the theme I like to go through many songs, especially if I don’t know the songs. I was thinking that I didn’t really like Alternative Music as I always saw it as Grunge. I guess I wasn’t exactly right, some were considered Grunge. But as I went down the list I found a few songs I LOVE! Here they are: (I couldn’t pick which was my favorite because as I saw the songs I remembered how much I liked each)
Lyrics
And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife
And you may ask yourself, “Well, how did I get here?”
Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground
And you may ask yourself, “How do I work this?”
And you may ask yourself, “Where is that large automobile?”
And you may tell yourself, “This is not my beautiful house”
And you may tell yourself, “This is not my beautiful wife”
Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Water dissolving and water removing
There is water at the bottom of the ocean
Under the water, carry the water
Remove the water from the bottom of the ocean
Water dissolving and water removing
Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, into the silent water
Under the rocks and stones, there is water underground
Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Leting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground
You may ask yourself, “What is that beautiful house?”
You may ask yourself, “Where does that highway go to?”
And you may ask yourself, “Am I right, am I wrong?”
And you may say to yourself, “My God, what have I done?”
Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, into the silent water
Under the rocks and stones, there is water underground
Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, look where my hand was
Time isn’t holding up, time isn’t after us
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was (I couldn’t get no rest)
Same as it ever was, hey let’s all twist our thumbs
Here comes the twister
Letting the days go by (same as it ever was, same as it ever was)
Letting the days go by (same as it ever was, same as it ever was)
Once in a lifetime, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground

Lyrics
When I’m out walking
I strut my stuff
And I’m so strung out
I’m high as a kite
I just might stop to check you out
Let me go on
Like I blister in the sun
Let me go on
Big hands, I know you’re the one
Body and beats
I stain my sheets
I don’t even know why
My girlfriend, she’s at the end
She is starting to cry
Let me go on
Like I blister in the sun
Let me go on
Big hands, I know you’re the one
When I’m out walking
I strut my stuff
And I’m so strung out
I’m high as a kite
I just might stop to check you out
When I’m out walking
I strut my stuff
And I’m so strung out
I’m high as a kite
I just might stop to check you out
Body and beats
I stain my sheets
I don’t even know why
My girlfriend, she’s at the end
She is starting to cry
When I’m out walking
I strut my stuff
And I’m so strung out
I’m high as a kite
I just might stop to check you out
Let me go on
Like I blister in the sun
Let me go on
Big hands, I know you’re the one

Lyrics
Coming out of my cage
And I’ve been doing just fine
Gotta gotta be down
Because I want it all
It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this?
It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss
Now I’m falling asleep
And she’s calling a cab
While he’s having a smoke
And she’s taking a drag
Now they’re going to bed
And my stomach is sick
And it’s all in my head
But she’s touching his chest now
He takes off her dress now
Let me go
And I just can’t look, it’s killing me
And taking control
Jealousy, turning saints into the sea
Swimming through sick lullabies
Choking on your alibis
But it’s just the price I pay
Destiny is calling me
Open up my eager eyes
‘Cause I’m Mr. Brightside
I’m coming out of my cage
And I’ve been doing just fine
Gotta gotta be down
Because I want it all
It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this?
(It was only a kiss), it was only a kiss
Now I’m falling asleep
And she’s calling a cab
While he’s having a smoke
And she’s taking a drag
Now they’re going to bed
And my stomach is sick
And it’s all in my head
But she’s touching his chest now
He takes off her dress now
Let me go
‘Cause I just can’t look, it’s killing me
And taking control
Jealousy, turning saints into the sea
Swimming through sick lullabies
Choking on your alibi
But it’s just the price I pay
Destiny is calling me
Open up my eager eyes
‘Cause I’m Mr. Brightside
I never
I never
I never
I never

Lyrics
Doo doo doo, doo doo-doo doo
Doo doo doo, doo doo-doo doo
Doo doo doo, doo doo-doo doo
Doo doo doo
I’m packed and I’m holding
I’m smiling, she’s living, she’s golden
She lives for me, says she lives for me
Ovation, her own motivation
She comes round and she goes down on me
And I make you smile, like a drug for you
Do ever what you wanna do, coming over you
Keep on smiling, what we go through
One stop to the rhythm that divides you
And I speak to you like the chorus to the verse
Chop another line like a coda with a curse
Come on like a freak show takes the stage
We give them the games we play, she said
I want something else to get me through this
Semi-charmed kinda life, baby, baby
I want something else, I’m not listening when you say good-bye
Doo doo doo, doo doo-doo doo
Doo doo doo, doo doo-doo doo
Doo doo doo, doo doo-doo doo
Doo doo doo
The sky was gold, it was rose
I was taking sips of it through my nose
And I wish I could get back there, someplace back there
Smiling in the pictures you would take
Doing crystal meth, will lift you up until you break
It won’t stop, I won’t come down
I keep stock with a tick-tock rhythm, a bump for the drop
And then I bumped up, I took the hit that I was given
Then I bumped again, then I bumped again
I said
How do I get back there to the place where I fell asleep inside you
How do I get myself back to the place where you said
I want something else to get me through this
Semi-charmed kinda life, baby, baby
I want something else, I’m not listening when you say good-bye
I believe in the sand beneath my toes
The beach gives a feeling, an earthy feeling
I believe in the faith that grows
And that four right chords can make me cry
When I’m with you I feel like I could die
And that would be alright, alright
And when the plane came in, she said she was crashing
The velvet it rips in the city, we tripped on the urge to feel alive
Now I’m struggling to survive
Those days you were wearing that velvet dress
You’re the priestess, I must confess
Those little red panties they pass the test
Slides up around the belly, face down on the mattress
One
And you hold me, and we are broken
Still it’s all that I wanna do, just a little now
Feel myself, heading off the ground
I’m scared, I’m not coming down
No, no
And I won’t run for my life
She’s got her jaws now locked down in a smile
But nothing is alright, alright
And I want something else to get me through this life
Baby, I want something else
Not listening when you say
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
Doo doo doo, doo doo-doo doo
Doo doo doo, doo doo-doo doo
Doo doo doo, doo doo-doo doo
The sky was gold, it was rose
I was taking sips of it through my nose
And I wish I could get back there
Someplace back there, in the place we used to start
Doo doo doo, doo doo-doo doo
Doo doo doo, doo doo-doo doo
I want something else

Lyrics
And I feel that time’s a-wasting, go
So where ya going to tomorrow?
And I see that these are lies to come
So would you even care?
And I feel it
And I feel it
Where ya going for tomorrow?
Where ya goin’ with the mask I found
And I feel, and I feel
When the dogs begin to smell her
Will she smell alone?
And I feel, so much depends on the weather
So is it raining in your bedroom?
And I see, that these are the eyes of disarray
Would you even care?
And I feel it
And she feels it
Where ya going for tomorrow?
Where ya goin’ with the mask I found?
And I feel, and I feel
When the dogs begin to smell her
Will she smell alone?
When the dogs do find her
Got time, time, to wait for tomorrow
To find it
To find it
To find it
When the dogs do find her
Got time, time, to wait for tomorrow
To find it
To find it
To find it
Where ya going for tomorrow?
Where ya goin’ with the mask I found?
And I feel, and I feel
When the dogs begin to smell her
Will she smell alone?
When the dogs do find her
Got time, time, to wait for tomorrow
To find it
To find it
To find it
When the dogs do find her
Got time, time, to wait for tomorrow
To find it
To find it
To find it
To find it
To find it
To find it

I love the way everyone remembers Semi-Charmed Life for being catchy and upbeat without realizing how awful the lyrics are.
Also, I’m just gonna leave this here:

I loved that song when Ace of Base sang it. I never knew anyone had ever redone it. It’s a good song!

That is Ace of Base. No one else is doing the song. DJ Cummerbund is a mashup artist, taking clips from multiple songs and putting them together. Here, we have the vocals from The Sign, and part of Lord Give Me A Sign by DMX, and clips from Eric Johnson’s Cliffs of Dover (an instrumental), spliced together to make a guitar solo, all overlaid on top of the music from Semi-Charmed Life.

Oh, I didn’t listen long enough I suppose. I guess I was just happy to hear Ace of Base. I will relisten!

I love all of these songs. I listened to the first, scrolled down and there was another great song, then another and another……wonderful 👍😀😀

Hahaha, that is why I had so many on there. I kept finding another and another that I hadn’t heard in years but loved.

I haven’t heard that in a while and forgot what a great song it is.
LikeLike
I have heard it sporadically through the years. Mostly when I think “I really like that song that had the guy in the video with the apple. What song is that???” Once I remember it’s Julia Roberts’ brother, it’s way easier to find (I can never remember the name of the song). So, I have to not only want to hear it, I have to remember “the guy” is Julia Roberts’ brother. Then, having forgotten his name, I have to search “Julia Roberts brother” find his name, then search “Eric Roberts music video” and then I get it. It’s efforts, so I have to want to hear it lol

Haha, wait, now I have to look to see who Eric Roberts is because I didn’t know Julia Roberts had a brother who was a singer. I am really bad with names so I usually just remember things by either lyrics or when they pop back up!

He’s an actor, not a singer. He was the main guy in the video that held the Apple and was staring creepily at the young girl with the white/blonde hair through the whole thing.
Prince Humperdinck from the princess bride was married to susan Sarandon. More useless trivia for you 😂

I went to watch the video and recognized him right away even though I never knew who it was. Creepy watcher he was! Lol.

Hahaha they look different enough it doesn’t dawn on you they are related. Then you see them smile and woooooboy! Twinsies!! 😂 also his daughter looks like her aunt. I think her name is Emma Roberts, also an actress

You have to wonder what the pressure is like to be born into a famous family.
LikeLike
I would think that being born into a famous family isn’t nearly as stressful as most would believe. I would think that you’d feel the pressure if you yourself were successful at a young age, or if you were one of the unlucky few that were born into a family that is famous, but have no discernible talent. Or, even worse, a family member that was famous and lost it, or always wanted to be famous. I can imagine many reasons to feel overwhelmed and slick with pressure in those instances, but Mom and Dad being famous for having some talent, I’d think it would be more like “well, my folks are super talented and I have the luxury of figuring out if I have any talent at all.” Think the Smith kids.

Yeah, I wonder how many kids would think, great my parents are rich and talented now I don’t have to do much cause I’m rich too!.
