Daily Question

If you could make your pet understand one thing, what would it be?

That he doesn’t need to bark at every noise, only the noises from people trying to break in the house or hurt us…robbers, burglars, home invaders, etc.

  1. I would wish my dog could understand the depth to which I love her. Nearly as much as a child.
And in my case (a farmhouse in the country), when she barks to announce commotion – neighbors or the UPS guy- I tell her “Good job!”
That’s what she is supposed to do.
You can’t train the dog out of a dog.

    1. No, I tell him he has done a good job when he tells me someone is here. I guess the thing that bugs me the most is that the neighbor’s dogs bark all day! And I mean all day, which sometimes gets him riled up. That is the barking I can’t stand! I am trying to teach my dog that he doesn’t have to continue barking long after the “threat” is gone. Funny, just as I am writing this someone stopped at the neighbors across the street and he started barking because he heard the car door shut. I let him know he was right in letting me know but that it was okay and he could stop. I wanted to tell him something not so nice, since I’m feeling crappy myself, but that’s not fair to the poor guy! Lol.

      1. I couldn’t agree more. I don’t let my dog have a free-for-all with barking, either. I have a neighbor like yours whose dogs bark ceaselessly at all hours of the day and night! Like you, I tell Snazzly “Okay, we got it. You can stop now.”
