For my final theme in this series, I’m going to ask you tell us what “your plans for September are.”

My plans for September:
- Go home from Florida
- Build a new miniature
- practice my art/drawing
- Get the tattoo for my son
Great plans!

I’m finishing my children’s book and sending it out to literary agent/publisher; that’s my entire self task for September.

Oh my! I am jealous! I have been trying to work on mine and make the revisions before sending it. Have you published before? I wish you good luck. I’ve only gotten a lot of declines but I’m still working……

I haven’t published a book before, but I’ve had articles published. I’ve been working on this book for 3 yrs and the only thing stopping me was my fear of failure/success. Since I took the life purpose course, I decided there’s nothing to be afraid of. I’ve already been through hell and if I could endure that pain, what’s a little rejection slip?

I don’t mind the rejections as much as the lack of feedback. I mean, did my book suck? What didn’t you like about it? What would you rather see? I’ve had some tell me to go read some picture books to see what publishers are looking for but honestly, and this is not to be mean, there are a lot of crappy kids books out there that I have no idea how they got published.
Anyhow, good luck!

I’ve done that, read tons of children’s books, esp now that I get my grandson books, and you’re right, there’s a lot of crap out there which actually made me feel better haha. I was an elementary school teacher so I know which words are appropriate for the age I’m targeting, so I think my book might be accepted. Plus I want to add merchandise to it…they like that.

I was a teacher too! I use Rate My Story to run my stories through and most of the time I get slammed to the curb. I write like I am telling my little guys a story. I don’t know what they want. Again, good luck. Can ask what your book is about?

It’s about an animal, and I use the story to teach the things I love, like caring about animals and the environment; compassion, empathy. I could have a whole series, if there’s a market for it. My son’s a real writer haha, and he likes the storyline–and he wouldn’t lie. I’m not sure I would submit my story to something like Rate My Story. I think if you have a conviction that your writing has merit, I believe it’s that passion that will be conveyed to a publisher and/or agent. If someone says they don’t like my stuff, my self esteem couldn’t handle it. Sometimes I think people are negative cos they’re jealous.

I agree with what you are saying. I guess I am now a bit shell-shocked from all the rejections, I am afraid to submit something else. Good luck to you and I do hope they like it. I heard a lot of publishers like when there are other works, so that they don’t necessarily sign on an author who is one-and-done.

I was afraid too until I took a life purpose certification course and learned that I have self limiting beliefs that stopped me from doing almost everything so now I’m going to try, no matter what. Fear stopped me from so much for too long.

I think that self limiting beliefs is probably my biggest obstacle too!

That course I took was eye-opening. If you want the link, let me know. I don’t benefit in any way from them for referring; someone else signed up too.

Sure, I will check it out! Haha, I would be more inclined to check it out if I knew you would get something from it!

Thank you for your kindness! I was thinking about asking them, but haven’t done so yet. Anyway, I don’t mind. It’s paying it forward. I don’t want anyone to wait as long as I did. But wait until it goes on sale. It’s this: https://www.udemy.com/course/life-purpose-coach-certification/

I wasted 29 years of my life devoted to helping someone else’s businesses and doing everything I could to make his life happy and it wasn’t enough. With no warning, he cheated and abandoned me and our family. I don’t have any more time to waste. I’m 66.

I definitely didn’t waste time during my marriage but I did sell myself short, not getting what I really wanted, as far as attention and affection. My husband was a great husband but I always thought what you see in the movies was only in the movies. Now I see that it is possible.

I’m happy for you! It’s what I dreamed of having. When he told me to rip my rose colored glasses off, that this wasn’t going to be my happily ever after, it almost killed me.

OMG! That is what my sister tells me all the time about everything I do and say! I’m sorry that I want to be treated nicely! My sister now says she doesn’t like my boyfriend. Probably because he’s the same with and without the rose colored glasses! And to add to that, what’s wrong with wanting to find positive things in life?

Oh you are correct! I only keep people in my life who encourage me in a loving and positive way. Everyone seems to have hidden agendas to keep us down, back, UNhappy. Never again. We haVe an obligation to help others walk this journey. To happiness and empowerment. That’s why I love that song “Rise Up” so much. The damage that was done to me becomes more horrific the healthier I get. I’m a life lesson. Don’t let anyone dim your sparkle.

I want to clarify that I don’t expect people to agree with everything, but being authentic and honest and supportive is the goal.
