From my desk: 03/14/2020

In the past few weeks I have been doing some things to improve my mental health, hopefully next will be my physical health (more than I do now!). I joined a support group and have found a lot of good people through my blogging. I have a few really good friends and Lindsay and David. I have been working more on my drawing and illustrating, more on writing, and more on learning about things I am curious about, like Art. I have been through a lot of crises but I am trying to learn to have beautiful memories rather than hurt and sorrow. It is hard, anyone who has lost a loved one knows that, but I feel good about the fact that I am making effort.

I am on a little road trip. I have made a few interesting stops and have found that my love of travel (which for many of you know that is my dream!) is very strong. One of the weirdest stops was in South Carolina. It was called the UFO Welcome Center in Bowman, SC. It was about 20 minutes off of I95 but worth every mile! According to the tales, no one knows who built it. Supposedly there is a ladder if you want to climb inside but it is totally unsafe! I had to laugh because it is behind a business of some sort and people live across the street! Very neat stop! I recommend it just to say you’ve been! https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/ufo-welcome-center

I also went to Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, GA. Oh wow! Talk about a huge place. I walked around for nearly an hour, with intermittent driving to cover more area. I didn’t have the map before going so I don’t think I saw any “famous” graves, but it was interesting nonetheless. I did see one stone that had an obvious error with the dates! What do you do about something like that? I guess I could call the cemetery and tell them. Poor soul. The whole thing was beautiful, a beautiful resting place for so many people.

The third stop I made was in Jacksonville, FL. It was a location that is considered haunted. It is called Public School Number 4. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_School_Number_Four. If you are a believer in the paranormal then you will believe me when I say that the leaves on the other side of the tall fence were crunching like someone was walking along the fence with me. If you don’t believe, well….sorry….https://www.firstcoastnews.com/article/news/taking-you-inside-public-school-number-4/77-435593359

So on my way back up North I may try to find a few interesting stops to make. I wish I had company on this trip but I have to say that I have enjoyed this trip immensely!
