Song Lyric Sunday

Each week I find a song that I used to love, haven’t heard in ages, or never heard at all.

This week the theme is Australian music. https://jimadamsauthordotcom.wordpress.com/2022/09/17/down-under-2/

The Wiggles were one of the first groups I thought of when I saw Australian music. I never knew of them in the early 90’s but we went to a live concert when my kids were little. It was awesome! My kids loved music so they loved the show! November 24, 2001 New London, CT Garde Arts Center (https://wiggles.fandom.com/wiki/The_Wiggles%27_10th_Birthday_Tour)

Lyrics

Get Ready to Wiggle
We’ve been ready for so long
Get Ready to Wiggle
When you wiggle you can’t go wrong
Get Ready to Wiggle
Wiggle will make you big and strong
Get Ready to Wiggle
Come on wiggle to this song
Wiggle to this song

We’re ready to wiggle
Wiggle your fingers high in the sky
We’re ready to wiggle
Wiggle your ears and wiggle your eyes
We’re ready to wiggle
Wiggle your hair and wiggle your nose
We’re ready to wiggle
Come on wiggle all ten toes
Wiggle all ten toes

Wiggle and wiggle
Wiggle at home without a care
Wiggle and wiggle
Wiggle alone or with your teddy bear
Wiggle and wiggle
Wiggle at breakfast lunch or tea
Wiggle and wiggle
Wiggle along with me
That’s right wiggle along with me
(Ba damp ba bamb ba damp ba damp)

Thursday Inspiration #173 Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Crying

Jim is the host of Thursday Inspiration: https://jimadamsauthordotcom.wordpress.com/2022/09/01/thursday-inspiration-173-dont-let-the-sun-catch-you-crying/

Respond to this challenge, by either by using the prompt word broken, or going with the above picture, or by means of the song ‘Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Crying’, or by going with another song by Gerry & The Pacemakers, or anything else that you think fits.

Lyrics

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don’t know where it goes
But it’s home to me, and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I’m the only one, and I walk alone

I walk alone, I walk alone
I walk alone, I walk a-

My shadow’s the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart’s the only thing that’s beating
Sometimes, I wish someone out there will find me
‘Til then, I walk alone

Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah
Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah

I’m walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the borderline
Of the edge, and where I walk alone

Read between the lines
What’s fucked up, and everything’s alright
Check my vital signs
To know I’m still alive, and I walk alone

I walk alone, I walk alone
I walk alone, I walk a-

My shadow’s the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart’s the only thing that’s beating
Sometimes, I wish someone out there will find me
‘Til then, I walk alone

Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah
Ah-ah, ah-ah, I walk alone, I walk a-

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I’m the only one, and I walk a-

My shadow’s the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart’s the only thing that’s beating
Sometimes, I wish someone out there will find me
‘Til then, I walk alone

Song Lyric Sunday

Jim is the host of this musical masterpiece! This week the theme is Better with Age: Failed or Overlooked Songs that Eventually Became Fan Favorites. https://jimadamsauthordotcom.wordpress.com/2022/08/27/another-candle-on-your-cake/comment-page-1/#comment-66804

I picked this song because it is one of my favorite movies…I love the dancing!

“Do You Love Me” – The Contours – Not a classic rock track, you say? Pshaw, we reply. This Motown act had failed to score with their initial singles, when luck intervened. Label founder Berry Gordy Jr. wrote the song and reluctantly gave it to them to record in 1962. The result was a #3 pop and #1 R&B smash. Years later, the song was featured in the 1987 surprise hit film, Dirty Dancing. Though not on the original soundtrack, RCA capitalized on the fever for anything related to the film and issued a companion album, More Dirty Dancing, in 1988. “Do You Love Me” was released as a single and reached #11, thus making The Contours sort of “one-hit-twice wonders.” Bonus points: A cover by British Invasion band the Dave Clark Five scored a #11 hit in 1964.

Song Lyric Sunday: Selling More Music

Jim (and Fandango as a fill-in) host Song Lyric Sunday

This week the theme is songs that hit the top of the charts.

This is really hard! I have googled several different lists and there are so many songs that are just so good! I don’t know what to choose! Here are just a few that I found that I love, but I’m sure there are many more. I mean, genre, year, group vs. individual, remakes….How do you really decide?

Travis Tritt – It’s A Great Day To Be Alive (Down The Road I Go)

After my first husband passed away I listened to this every day on my way to work and every day on my way home.

Maroon 5 – Memories

This came out right around the time I lost my son.

Michael Jackson – You are not alone

For obvious reasons, this song has so much meaning to me…Very emotionally connected.

I love the nightlife – Alicia Bridges

Not technically a Top of the Hits, but one of my personal faves….

“Bohemian Rhapsody” – Queen

Eagles – Hotel California

Song Lyric Sunday

This week the theme is songs that are Hidden Gems, which are great songs that missed the top of the charts suggested by Amy aka E.M.  This could be any song that you feel should have performed better on the charts.https://jimadamsauthordotcom.wordpress.com/2022/06/25/missed-it-by-that-much-2/

So, I am a 70’s fan and this is my pick. I found it from a list on THE 100 MOST LOST SONGS OF THE 1970S

Lyrics

I met her on a Monday and my heart stood still
Da doo ron ron ron, da doo ron ron ron
Someboy told me that her name was Jill
Da doo ron ron ron, da doo ron ron ron

Yes, my heart stood still
Yes, her name was Jill
And when I walked her home
Da doo ron ron ron, da doo ron ron ron

I knew what she was thinkin’ when she caught my eye
Da doo ron ron ron, da doo ron ron ron
I looked so quiet but my oh my
Da doo ron ron ron, da doo ron ron ron

Yes, she caught my eye
Yes, but my oh my
And when I walked her home
Da doo ron ron ron, da doo ron ron ron

Well, I picked her up at seven and she looked so fine
Da doo ron ron ron, da doo ron ron ron
Someday soon I’m gonna make her mine
Da doo ron ron ron, da doo ron ron ron

Yes, she looked so fine
Yes, I’ll make her mine
And when I walked her home
Da doo ron ron ron, da doo ron ron ron
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Da doo ron ron ron, da doo ron ron ron
(Repeat & fade)

Look What I Found!: Compilation 6/24/2022

I tried to write something for the prompts yesterday but nothing was coming to me, so I closed the computer lid and walked away. I came back today with a fresh set of hands and eyes and this is what I got!?

Plane – Image by KL Caley

Can you picture a person in the fresh open air
looking up at a plane and you follow their stare
It’s a plane on a stick and the stick in the ground
My head is now spinning around and around.
The essence of pleasure has been taken away
It takes one to know one, is what they all say
But whether indigenous or found far from here
My investigation is becoming quite clear
There’s a scroll at the base with a tiny rosette
I barely could take notice of words that were set
on the thin little paper rolled up with a bow
What it might say, I don’t really know.
My endeavor is over, my looking is done
This plane won’t fly far, it’s just there for fun
I envisage myself walking quickly away
But I might come to check this some other day.

Song Lyric Sunday

Jim is the host. https://jimadamsauthordotcom.wordpress.com/2022/05/21/where-to-invest/

This week the theme is songs that mention Money, Gold, Silver, Rich suggested by Paula of Light Motifs II.

I knew immediately what song I wanted to pick! This is an ultimate favorite of mine!

Lyrics

Money
Get away
You get a good job with more pay and you’re okay
Money
It’s a gas
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash

New car, caviar, four star, daydream
Think I’ll buy me a football team

Money
Get back
I’m alright, Jack, keep your hands off of my stack
Money
It’s a hit
Don’t give me that do goody good bullshit

I’m in the high-fidelity first-class traveling set
And I think I need a Lear jet

Money
It’s a crime
Share it fairly, but don’t take a slice of my pie
Money
So they say
Is the root of all evil today

But if you ask for a rise
It’s no surprise that they’re giving none away
Away, away, away
Away, away, away

I was in the right
Yes, absolutely in the right
I certainly was in the right
Yeah, I was definitely in the right, that geezer was cruisin’ for a bruisin’
Yeah!
Why does anyone do anything?
I don’t know, I was really drunk at the time
Just telling him it was in, he could get it in number two
He was asking why it wasn’t coming up on freight eleven
And after, I was yelling and screaming and telling him why
It wasn’t coming up on freight eleven

This week the theme is songs that mention Head, Hat, Hair, Scarf suggested by Paula of Light Motifs II.

I found this song and although I am not a real Robin Thick fan, I liked the “disco” feel

Lyrics

Ain’t no hat 4 that

Some say that your behavior is preposterous
You’re just saying imagine if we friend
Dangerous through my pursuit of happiness
Trouble is ’bout to get me in the end

You got your cure for anxious
You got your pill for bad
But your fancy shoes and handbag
Can’t help you when you’re sad
‘Cause there ain’t no hat for that
Ain’t no hat 4 that
No ain’t no hat 4 that
Ain’t no hat 4 that

Some say her temperament’s a trap for us
She’s only nice when something is at stake
And speaking for her friends there is a castuas
We paid the paparazzi, and that we know

You got your cure for anxious
You got your pill for bad
But your fancy shoes and handbag
Can’t help you when you’re sad
‘Cause there ain’t no hat for that
Ain’t no hat 4 that
No ain’t no hat 4 that
Ain’t no hat 4 that

Shopping for your superficial treasures
Stopping short of offering your house
Stranger to the simplest of pleasure
Distance is to you a work of art

You got your cure for anxious
You got your pill for bad
But your fancy shoes and handbag
Can’t help you when you’re sad
‘Cause there ain’t no hat for that
Ain’t no hat 4 that
No ain’t no hat 4 that
Ain’t no hat 4 that

You got your cure for anxious
You got your pill for bad
But your fancy shoes and handbag
Can’t help you when you’re sad
‘Cause there ain’t no hat for that
Ain’t no hat 4 that
No ain’t no hat 4 that
Ain’t no hat 4 that

You got your cure for anxious
You got your pill for bad
But your fancy shoes and handbag
Can’t help you when you’re sad
‘Cause there ain’t no hat for that
Ain’t no hat 4 that
No ain’t no hat 4 that
Ain’t no hat 4 that

Ain’t no hat 4 that
Ain’t no hat 4 that
There’s ain’t no hat 4 that
Ain’t no hat 4 that

Jim hosts Song Lyric Sunday

This week the theme is songs that mention Suit, Pants, Dress, Shirt suggested by Paula of Light Motifs II.

Wow, I googled songs that have clothing items in the titles and there are so many that I really like. I picked this because it reminds me of my mom. She loved Neil Diamond. My mom passed away back in 1994. Its been a long time and its hard because I don’t remember that much about her. She did love Neil though. Thanks for sharing the memory with me. 🥲

Forever In Blue Jeansby Neil Diamond

Lyrics

“Forever In Blue Jeans”

Money talks
But it don’t sing and dance
And it don’t walk
And long as I can have you
Here with me, I’d much rather be
Forever in blue jeans

Honey’s sweet
But it ain’t nothin’ next to baby’s treat
And if you pardon me
I’d like to say
We’ll do okay
Forever in blue jeans

Maybe tonight
Maybe tonight, by the fire
All alone you and I
Nothing around
But the sound of my heart
And your sighs

Money talks
But it can’t sing and dance
And it can’t walk
And long as I can have you
Here with me, I’d much rather be
Forever in blue jeans, babe

And honey’s sweet
But it ain’t nothin’ next to baby’s treat
And if you pardon me I’d like to say
We’ll do okay
Forever in blue jeans

Maybe tonight
Maybe tonight, by the fire
All alone you and I
Nothing around
But the sound of my heart
And your sighs

Money talks
But it don’t sing and dance
And it don’t walk
And long as I can have you
Here with me
I’d much rather be
Forever in blue jeans

And if you pardon me
I’d like to say
We’ll do okay
Forever in blue jeans, babe
And long as I can have you
Here with me I’d much rather be
Forever in blue jeans, babe

Thursday Inspiration: Cold

NEWEPICAUTHOR

Jim is the host and gave us this picture and the word, cold. Here goes…

Poor, cold cat (Cat in the Hat fan fiction)

And now he was back. The Cat in the Hat
And even though cold, he ne’r worried bought that
He worried ‘bout green cheese and even green eggs
He worried ‘bout spiders and all of their legs
He came well prepared, that Cat in the Hat
He came with some bug spray and his big baseball bat
He told the kids stories that his pop told him
Even ‘bout working, which sometimes were grim
But he smiled and nodded to keep the mood light
Or else these two kids would end up in a fight
Then mom would be mad that the Cat came to call
She’d make him leave quick with his stories and all
She’d make him run far and tell him not to come back
‘Cause common sense manners their mom did not lack
She’d tell him to stay away far from her house
“I’ll call the police! You dirty old louse!”
So the cat kept on walking, even now in the snow
‘Cause home was the only place he knew to go.
