Up Here

The view from up here
is pretty you know.

You can tell where it’s sunny
and where there is snow.

You see the forest of green
and the oceans of blue

And you get all of this
from an aquiline view.

Ode to the Stand-up Comics

Just a little tidbit

Of info for you both

You think that you are funny

I think that you need growth

Your comedy’s not that funny

And has a lot to go

But if you go and take my stand

Your act is sure to grow.

Tenterhooks: Ragtag Daily Prompt

a hook used to fasten cloth on a drying frame or tenter – https://ragtagcommunity.wordpress.com/2020/11/03/rdp-tuesday-tenterhooks/

The phrase “on tenterhooks” means “waiting nervously for something to happen.” A tenterhook is literally a sharp hook that fastens cloth to a tenter, a frame on which cloth is stretched, like a tent, for even drying to prevent shrinkage.

The sound of silence is deafening
as the country waits
on tenterhooks
for the outcome of
today’s Presidential Election.

Empty Room: Ragtag Daily Prompt

For: https://ragtagcommunity.wordpress.com/2020/10/29/ragtag-daily-prompt-thursday-empty-room/

I leave

When I walk out, I leave it there…

I leave my thoughts

I leave my feelings

I leave my hopes

I leave my dreams

I leave them in an empty room

And hope they might be there

When I return.

Strange: Ragtag Daily Prompt

For the Ragtag Community: https://ragtagcommunity.wordpress.com/2020/10/24/rdp-saturday-strange/

It’s True

If you think that I’m strange

Then maybe so are you

If you think the sky’s grey

It’s still really blue.

If I think that you’re weird

Then come along with me

I have something to share

Something for you to see.

If this doesn’t make sense

then you are totally right

It’s like saying a real zebra

isn’t black and white.

Hardihood: Ragtag Daily Prompt

For: https://ragtagcommunity.wordpress.com/2020/10/19/rdp-monday-hardihood/

boldness; daring

A Little Hero

Once upon a time there was a little man named Pipsqueak, that lived in a little house in a little neighborhood. He loved his little dog and his little house and made sure he always had little flowers planted and a little bit of green grass growing. One day Tony, one of the big men in town, had a big problem at his big house. He wanted to find a big friend, but most were in their own big homes.

Ironically, Tony was looking down the street and saw Pipsqueak. Tony waved a big hand. Pipsqueak waved his little hand. In a big voice Tony said, “Pipsqueak, I have a big problem!” Pipsqueak nodded his little head to show he understood. “Don’t worry, Tony, I can help you a little.” Pipsqueak followed Tony back to his big home.

Sometime later, Pipsqueak shook Tony’s big hand. “Thanks for that little bit of help,” said Tony.

“It wasn’t a big deal,” Pipsqueak said, with a little laugh.

“Pipsqueak you are the littlest man with the biggest amount of hardihood that I have ever met.

Ragtag Daily Prompt Thursday: Down the Line

Written for The Rag Tag Community:https://ragtagcommunity.wordpress.com/2020/10/15/ragtag-daily-prompt-thursday-down-the-line/

Wine in Spain

Down in the valley
across from the lane
there was a little village
In the southeast of Spain.

There was a lovely market
who sold the sweetest wine
I waited for my turn to pay
I waited down the line

Handle: RDP

The Cat doesn’t stay

When the Cat came to visit, he didn’t feel good
About all negative vibe.

The Parents they smirked and turned right away
said they’re “happy” to see him alive

But the cat couldn’t handle all of the stress
that came from the mom and the dad

Freedom was never a choice for him
it was always just something he had

So he told both the kids it wasn’t a day
that he could stay with them right now

He gave them a wink and a tip of his hat
then curtsied his own sort of bow
