Amidst shadows and darkness
Belies the happiness
Covered in a veil
Developed to protect
Even the most sensitive
Fears that exist
Giving in to longing
Hoping a light will shine
Inside the soul
Just within reach
Knowing there’s a side
Longing to escape
Marginalization
Negates
Optimism
Purely to hold down
Quiet
Resilience
Silenced
Temporarily
Under the illusion
Verified by 
Witnesses unknowingly
Xenial
Yet
Zealously optimistic
