Melaney had a feeling that James would be proposing sometime soon, she just didn’t know where he would do it or when. She knew he had bought her a ring because she saw the white gift bag from the jeweler. Every time James came home, Melaney would hold her breath, waiting for that time to happen. One of these days, that Melaney anticipated, had finally come when she heard James in his closet rifling through his stuff on the floor, looking for the bag. James approached Melaney, told her to close her eyes, and to open her hand. Holding her breath she felt him slip the small box into her palm, but the velvet box felt big and heavy, so much so that she began to wonder what she would find when she opened her eyes.
