For today’s prompt, write a dream poem.
I wish I would stop dreaming
Its been over thirty years
but still you haunt my dreams
I’ve moved on from you many times
I’m over you, it seems
But many nights are haunted
with how mean you were to me
Each time you say you’ll be my love
I always wait to see
Then what happens is just the same
you fail to show your face
And there I stand, alone again
of you there is no trace.

This is a true story. I have had dreams since 1995 or so, the last time we were together, the last time he told me he didn’t love me anymore. I’ve talked to therapists, friends, confidants, but the dreams still come. A few years ago I did have one dream where I was the one to leave him…After that dream I thought it would all be over, but nope.

I still have dreams about past relationships that I have long since left behind. The mind is an amazing thing.

So, you know how someone might say that it is your mind being “hung up” on something? Well, I remember one time asking myself seriously if we were to meet again, and I was single, would I want to try to rekindle a relationship and I honestly could say no! I don’t think I’m lying to myself but according to my dreams…I’m lying! Lol!

Maybe writing will be a form of “dream exorcism” for you, Christine. Good luck!

I think that writing about your dreams helps as it makes them more real.

I would think that the more I talk about it openly the more it will get out of my head!
