
No Honeymoon Here
Smitten and young yet not linked
the couple stared at it with glee
a cabin, refrigerator, sink
anticipation at what they would see
No cobwebs or dusty, bare windows
the smell of the pine was succinct
this would be the most perfect hangout
it’d be gone soon, after one blink
So the couple retreated inside
and oh, what a horrible mess!
The curtains were ruffled and dirty
they felt doomed, unable to rest
She cried when she saw he was shaking
He hurried to help her calm down
the couple they left in a hurry
to the motel that was right there in town.
