What was I thinking?

Thinking back in time
Pondering my life
Smiling at my fortune
Happiness, no strife
Until the day it happened
that things began to fall
What the hell was I just thinking
My head just dropped the ball
The rain can down in sheets
The temperature was raw
I had no one’s umbrella
Desolations all I saw
I should have been prepared
for showers in the night
but all I felt was lonely
mixed in with bits of fright.
