Lesley’s prompt guidelines
- Create a poetic scene, based on this imagery:
- It is early morning. You get out of bed and go to the window.
- Consider these questions:
- How do you get out of bed? Do you crawl, climb, jump, etc.?
- What do you see from the window?
- How do you feel?
- How do you begin this day?
- What lies ahead?
- You may write your poem in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd person.
Good Morning
I’m slinging my feet over the side
I’m not in a rush, my time I do bide
Feeling the cool air enveloping me
glancing around seeing what there’s to see
The sun’s barely risen, the sky slightly dark
The streets are still barren, sidewalks are stark
The first of the birds have flown to the grass
Time feels so frozen, like no time will pass
I lean on the sill looking out for the sun
But rain clouds are coming, no outside fun
No washing to hang on the line so to dry
Here’s wishing for sun, I’m starting to cry
My plans are now ruined, inside I will stay
Just blogging and cleaning will make up my day
I’ll nap after eating my lunch by myself
The plates will be cleaned and placed back on the shelf
Once sleep is gifted and my body feels rest
I’ll read all my writings and look for the best
I’ll add to my pages, which you will all read
my desire for sunshine is too much to need
When finally then, the clouds seem to lift
The sun pours out warmly, nature’s fine gift
I’ll bask in the sun feel the warmth on my skin
And know that a better mood I’ll soon be in.
