Gripping and suspenseful, surprises until the very end.
Rachel is an attorney who failed her brother years ago, now she is determined to prove a convicted murderer, like her brother, is innocent. Knowing she could have saved her brother all those years ago by telling one small lie plays at the back of her mind. Now she is determined to get through all the lies to find the truth.
Annie was a singer who had promise. Everybody loved her and adored her every move. But she had secrets too. Now, thirty years later her murder remains unsolved along with the location of the baby she had just five days before being killed.
In Rachel’s determination to free a man she believes is innocent, like her brother was, she has to dig up all the old memories of Annie and rehash all the hurt for those who lost her. With the help of the stubborn detective she has asked to test DNA, she is sure she will find the truth before an innocent man dies in prison.
I gave this story 3.5 out of 5 stars. The storyline was compelling and it definitely kept my attention until the last page, but there was some confusion for me with characters as a voice from the past is entwined with the text. I had a hard time remembering who loved who and who was related to who as characters continued to emerge. All characters were relevant and fit the plot but with the growing list it was difficult to discern relationships. Besides this obstacle, which could purely be my own, it was a good plot and I was surprised at the end when all the loose ends finally came together.

I’ve never read any books by this author! I’ve heard she’s good. X

You know I heard she was really good and I am going to try another story of hers. I liked this story but wasn’t totally impressed. This particular story was free on Audible. She has a second book in this series out now but it is $18 or so and I don’t spend that much on books! I would never be able to afford that !
