Suzanne’s prompt guidelines

  • Theme: Transformation;
  • Form: Quatern
  • The Quatern is a 16-line form composed of four quatrains (four-line verses), with eight syllables per line. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain. The 1st line of stanza one (S1) is the 2nd line of S2, 3rd line of S3, and 4th line of S4.

It is by choice

It is by choice I want to change
to better myself in the end
to fulfill my aspirations
to live my life to the fullest

I look at the things I can change
It is by choice I want to change
From where I live and what I do
And who I spend all my time with

I want to live with joy and bliss
Free from a past I cannot change
It is by choice I want to change
Embracing the things that move me

Life is too short, you must move on
Finding what you still believe in
Being with people who love you
It is by choice I want to change

  9. Such a truth…! It is our choice to move on and we must want it as it is so hard to make change … all the advice will sit until we make the move … and your refrain moves along the thoughts each stanza – and rhyme is optional … this is great
