Memories of Friendship

Being picked was so intense but went unnoticed by a young innocent. Relied upon without knowing, expectations not understood, friendship innate, support inherent, dependability built-in, pure intent. A youngster coming to an unknown country with mysterious places and hidden relationships. A friendship foraged and fed to last.

A good friendship starts
Life happens and people drift
Strong roots still run deep.

When I read the prompt my mind went to a negative situation that has always affected me but I wanted to search my memories for something positive and I remembered something that happened to me twice. Once was in 2nd grade and once in 4th grade. In 2nd grade, Erica came with her family from Sweden. In 4th grade, Kristen came from a neighboring town. In each case best friendships were formed and although lapses in the friendship occurred over the years, the friendships still exist and so many memories continue to make me smile.
