Hey you look pretty old, like you’ve been used a lot.

Yeah, kid, I’ve been around for a long time. I’ve got the battle-scars to prove it.

Well, this is my first week and so far there isn’t much to do. They just put me here but never even told me what I was supposed to do.

Typical! It’s called a totem pole. Have you ever heard of one?

Nope, I think that is something I would have remembered.

Well, totem poles don’t move, sort of like us. They call us “traffic cones” but I never get to be part of the traffic.

I heard a story about a cone that got run over by a truck, flattened the guy right out. He bounced back but he was never completely the same, he always sort of leaned to the side.

I guess I shouldn’t complain. I haven’t been run over once.
