Bunny: Remembering

Bunny

Bunny stared straight ahead. He didn’t have the type of neck that allowed him the freedom to look side to side, but he could still see Little Willy sitting on the chair, perplexed and alone.
“I may have been pink once and I definitely used to have two ears, but I don’t have to be confused, I know I am loved.”

Bunny stopped to think about this. How could he be so sure when Willy wasn’t?

He thought of his tattered fur with the brownish stains and knew, it was love that made him so ratty, so he didn’t mind.

I wrote this thinking about a stuffed animal I had when I was little. I can picture it perfectly and even remember how its one ear had been reattached, almost like a mohawk! I wonder what ever happened to Bunny?

  1. Dale said “The Velveteen Rabbit,” but my first thought was “Toy Story”… Toys, stuffed animals, etc. are loved by their children. Well, some are. Poor Little Willy (willy won’t go home).
