Christmastime
Christmas is coming the long stockings are hung
The list’s in the mail for a specialty gift
The party is planned and the relatives rung
To ensure that nobody’s left unaware
The music is playing and carols are sung
Even though some old songs are way out of tune
Tinsel will glitter from the branches it clung
The tree-topper star may be the last we will lift
As ho ho ho ho’s will fly off Santa’s tongue

*This poem seems off to me, as I think with the rhyming pattern in needs one more line…but that’s just me.
This 9-line poem doesn’t have any rules as far as meter or subject matter–just a rhyme scheme: abacadaba.

I like it. It doesn’t seem off to me.

Well done! The Magic 9 is one of those forms that I’ve played with in the past – perhaps it is time to revisit it!
