Too Long Gone
Pressed again the icy glass
He watches her with dark brown eyes
Checking that she’s not alone
Seeing her leaves no surprise
But what he sees will bring him joy
Although the moment feels like pain
For all he wants is to be with her
And suddenly it begins to rain
She sits and writes, her body calm
As water slides down his strong face
Wishing that they had more time
Wanting to feel her warm embrace
But God had other plans for them
And it left them broken hearts and sorrow
For all he could ever do is watch
Given grace and faith to let him look tomorrow
