Each Morning

I look out my window to see how nature’s

Magic has transformed my world at first

Sight, before the day begins. How green

The grass is and how blue the pool is

As if the color pallet is lined with gold.

  • Take a line (or lines) from a poem you admire.
  • Use each word in the line (or lines) as an end word in your poem.
  • Keep the end words in order.
  • Give credit to the poet who originally wrote the line (or lines).
  • The new poem does not have to be about the same subject as the poem that offers the end words.

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature’s first green is gold,

Her hardest hue to hold.

Her early leaf’s a flower;

But only so an hour.

Then leaf subsides to leaf.

So Eden sank to grief,

So dawn goes down to day.

  2. Wow! I love this poem and the poetry format and especially the poem you choose to use from Robert Frost – He is one of my Favorite Poet’s – His “The Road Less Traveled” is my most favorite poem and I still have it memorized from high school!

    I just read your About page! Loved meeting you in a more formal way! Impressive!

    I’m so sorry about the loss of your son – no parent should ever have to bury their child.

    • Chuck, First let me say thank you for reading my work. Robert Frost is one of my favorites even though I was never much of a poetry buff before I started blogging. Honestly, Shel Silverstein and Dr. Seuss are my secret idols! You may share my information, that would be great. I love to share my writing and my experience and have found so many people that have similar experiences. I would also love to see what you have that you believe would be interesting to me. I do see your posts and have actually found a few blogging “friends” that way.
      As for my miniatures, I started making custom miniatures and actually sold one to a cafe owner in Qatar! Writing and anything miniature…my happy places!
      I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and it was very nice to meet you!

    • I struggled with it because I couldn’t think of how to incorporate the words into my own idea. I let it sit for a day and then was happy with what came to mind. That is one thing I am noticing is that with some of the forms I do have to let them sit so I can wrap my head around them. I think it the “theme” issue that gets me. I often don’t know what I want to write about.
