The Sister Pact
A book of heartbreak, healing, and love based on truth.
Allie is dealing with grief after her big sister commits suicide, leaving her behind, in The Sister Pact, by Stacie Ramey. The two sisters had a pact that no matter what happened they would be there for each other, even if it meant death. But Leah is gone and now Allie is left to wonder how she failed her sister and how she is going to move on if she does at all.
As Allie tries coping with her sister’s suicide, she slowly finds out many new truths about her family and things she never knew about her perfect, big sister. Many secrets are uncovered as she unravels the darkness Leah had been wrapped up in. Above all else, can Allie find her artistic side again or did that die with Leah?
I gave this story four out of five stars for its believable characters and well-developed storyline. Ramey is able to pull all the different pieces of the puzzle together so they leave the reader feeling like true healing is happening. It is a good book for young people dealing with societal pressures including drugs, sex, and fitting in.
