W3 Prompt #75: Wea’ve Written Weekly

 Suzette’s prompt guideline

  • Compose a poem on the theme of: What ‘harvest’ means to you.

Harvest

The day is decreasing, the nights are still warm
the bugs stopped their bugging, a now distant swarm
the holidays coming, more money to spend
when will these stressors come to an end?

In part of the country they grow right from seeds
the farmers grow crops that everyone needs
in some other places they pick wild things
it all just depends on what nature brings

A time to plant crops that come back next year
or picking the corn, ear upon ear
jarring the cukes and boiling the beans
To me, this is what a real harvest means!
