Your nonsense word this week is: “anements”
anements are any of those unwrapped candies that are offered at wakes, at banks, and other places that have a counter where children can reach the bowl.
When someone passes away it is appropriate if you are going to have some sort of wake or viewing to have a sign-in book. The purpose of this is so the grieving may see who has come to send their condolences. It’s probably so people can really check who DIDN”T show up but that’s just me. Anyhow, because it is usually a long wait and there are no other refreshments allowed in a funeral home, it is acceptable to offer anements so the guests don’t have dry mouths or have something else to focus on.
Most parents will discourage their children from reaching in and grabbing a handful of anements for two reasons. First, they know everyone has put their hand in the bowl and second, they don’t want their child to look inconsiderate.

Perfectly feasible Christine

I enjoy playing with creating new definitions too. These days, I think there aren’t too many bowls of unwrapped anything. Cheers, Jules

A girl I work with, her mom recently died. She is the oldest of 7 kids and only 25 years old. She asked me to grab a handful of the candies and put them in my pocket on the way out. After the funeral the smell of the candies simply remind us of death.
