A Summer Reassembled

Isaac was tired of everything: his job, this weather, the news, himself. He wished he could just push forward like his parents and grandparents had done, but they all had something to live for, giving meaning to the endless march.

But it was difficult for Isaac to stay motivated. He was merely surviving. But as he looked outside and saw the melting of car tires, the birds passing out, and the flames spreading from shrub to shrub, he wondered if he could even survive the future.

So, he decided to quit his job, and isolated himself to his living room. He assembled a collection of props, surrounding himself with a facsimile of the summers he experienced as a child, not of the ones that burned his present. And he lost his gaze to his laptop screen, allowing the moment to forget itself.
