When Carl was 10, he had fallen and broken his leg resulting in a plaster cast that spanned its entire length. He found that an itch under that cast was impossible to scratch so he learned to convince his brain that a large, clawed hand was doing the scratching. It helped.
Now with the heatwave and the depleted green power grid not allowing for air conditioning, he used the same method. His imagination convinced him that he was in the Arctic diving into cold water and his t-shirt, soaked with sweat, was the result of that glorious plunge. For a moment he was spared the ‘heat calamity’ of the Climate Change policies’ disinterest in health and safety until, delirious from the extreme heat, he dove forward out of his door and face planted in the sand!
