When I am gone: a poem

Photo by Felipe Cespedes on Pexels.com

When I am gone
don’t sit and remember me
thinking of all the things we have left to do.
When I am gone
don’t stare at my pictures
thinking of my face close to yours
feeling my breath.
When I am gone
don’t cry for a life
that could have been different.
Instead
When I am gone
remember every moment we shared
and smile.
When I am gone
remember my embrace
and the strength of my arms.
When I am gone
remember there is a place
where I will be waiting for you forever.
