Alone at Home: W3 Prompt #61: Wea’ve Written Weekly

  • Write a poem in any style about a place that evokes emotion (a place where you find poetry);
    • It could be a place you go daily; perhaps from your childhood; or a place you may have only dreamed of. It may be under your favourite tree; a sports field; the lake; a coffee shop; your comfy chair; the dreaded dentist’s chair; or on a plane in the clouds… the possibilities are endless.

Alone at Home

Silent noise
air blowing, tick tick tick
sitting, staring, listening
thoughts come in waves
love letters
lost love hurts, love lasts forever
silly poetry
a rhyming mind, a catchy phrase
scary stories
creepy, mind-fuck, twisted minds
catchy lyrics
playlists, instrumentals
Swirling in my head
that is good, stupid idea
with a hand too slow
a mind too fast
ideas slip away
Please wait!
Go a little slower!
I am trying to write it all down!
As I sit at home
On my couch, with my dog
alone in the day.

  1. Best place to take hold of a poem. But they’re so flitting and giddy sometimes, those poems, that one has to be on one’s toes to catch one. Best we can do is try. Your home is the best place for it. I love it. All the best… Loved reading this. xoxo

    • I hear you. I love having a dog and sometimes wish I didn’t so if I want to just go somewhere I don’t have to worry. But, for the past thirty years or so I’ve always had a dog so I don’t know how it would be without one.

  2. Being alone can be tough sometimes, especially when creative ideas start swarming in our heads and refuse to leave until they’re documented. But fear not! Your furry companion surely knows how much company means. And don’t sweat it too much about not getting every word down perfectly – the beauty lies precisely in imperfections after all. 😊
