Check out the new prompt from Leslie
Write about the first wild creature that you see which inspires you on the day you write your poem (by wild creature I do not mean your spouse, etc.).
This morning when I was walking the dog I heard a small “thump” come from the tree we had just passed. I looked back and it was a hawk. So…my poem…
Hawk
The utter beauty of your body
feathers mingle so colors blend
strength in your powerful eyes
flows to the tips of your talons
below thick legs of iron
Fear comes from admiration
Yet the small pounce to the ground
gentle and soft, quiet and steady
you hop, you scratch, you poke
something is there for only you
grasp gently in your razor beak
fly with strength back to
the hideaway in the trees.

I have been thinking a lot about my writing and trying to harness how I feel physically and mentally about something rather than just the craft.
