Wednesday Challenge – For the Birds

I am about to stop feeding my birds for the summer.
The squirrels are eating all the food anyhow.
The hummingbirds will still get their sugar water.

This year I have seen:

Bluebirds
Blue Jays
Nuthatches
Tufted Titmice
Cowbirds
Juncos
Cardinals
Goldfinches
House finches
Sparrows
Mourning Doves
Chickadees
Downy Woodpeckers
Hairy Woodpeckers
Northern Flickers
Red-Bellied Woodpeckers
Starlings
Grackles

I feel very lucky to have this many birds come to my yard!

Flying to my home
Feeding and visits welcome
please come back here soon

  1. I can totally feel you paid. Squirrels and Dove can drive you into a padded room. I can tell you I bought a window feeder that attaches by suction cups. If placed strategically the squirrels cannot get to it. I still have to chase off the Doves, but it allows me to still enjoy watching the birds. I can only dream of ever having a humming bird here. Good luck, I hope this may help.

    • I have thought about one of those feeders except my windows only have those tall single screens. If I take out the screen it is a pain in the butt to put it back in if I want to open the window. I wish I had the kind of window with screens you can put up and down. Perhaps I can strategically find a window that I know I don’t really need to ever open! Thanks for the suggestion!

  2. I’m in Australia. We have completely different birds. Blue Jays and Cardinals, bluebirds and woodpeckers. all sound wonderful to me. All the different birds must be quite a sight.
