Fresh Garlic Bread

I took the precaution to preheat the oven
When baking my fresh loaf of bread.
I like to prepare the garlic and butter
The taste will go right to my head.

I stood back to preview the butter and bread
to see the long cooking result
Then back to my previous cooking resolve
Never add so much butter and salt

I stepped a bit closer and thought to predict
How nice of a job I had done
But before I could do it, the kids took the bread
with the garlic and then it was gone!
