Write a reverse poem. A reverse poem can be read forward and backward (top to bottom or bottom to top, line by line). The meaning of the poem changes depending on the direction you read it in.
I wrote and rewrote probably 10 different poems, and I was not happy with any of them. This was the last one that is somewhat okay so I need to let it go and just post it.
Memories of the past
I want to remember the good times
Even though things change from day to day
I often lose memories in a dark cloud
Because time continues without slowing
Pictures in my mind are bright
When I think about what really matters
Sadness fills me with a sort of darkness
and new choices lead to new decisions
I keep moving through life seeking out joy

Well done 👏 memories change over time subtly and I think your poem conveys this in the reversal. I really like reading this difficult form as it is so clever

It doesn’t seem like it would be so hard to write but it really is!

Christine, this is such a good exploration of memory and change. The dual perspectives, both forward and backward, add a unique layer to the narrative, and your final piece beautifully captures the ebb and flow of life’s experiences. Well done on creating a thought-provoking and well-executed poem 😀

Thank you! It did take two days to complete. I just couldn’t get the feel for it or something. Not an easy form.

You know, I wasn’t able to get on the computer yesterday, really because I was reading this one book that was so good I didn’t want to put it down at all and was reading most of the day!, anyhow, I didn’t even realize today was NOT Wednesday so again, thank you for the reminder. I hope I am not becoming a burden! 😊

Christine I am struggling still! I spent a lot of time just thinking about how to approach this prompt. I really like the way this one unfolds in the reverse!

I found this one sight that said to think about it like this….Find two opposing views (of anything). Then write a positive comment about it. Next write a neutral comment that can be attributed to anything. Then write a more negative viewed comment. Keep going back and forth between + = – for as long as you want. That was the only way I was able to do it.

So many memories lost! The reversal really enhances the feeling of movement. (K)

Sometimes reading others work is really helpful except that I am a true stickler for rules and I have followed other people only to find out that they did not stick to the “proper” rules. Ugh, and I think of this a truly big problem? Lol!

I agree… And since I’m a rookie at this, I could only stick to the rules of the prompt anyway. It was very tough challenge for me though.. 🙏
