What do you see?

Cadence, do you see it?

See what?

That one grain of sand that hasn’t fallen yet.

Oh yeah. Here let me tap the glass to make it fall.

No! Leave it. That means that time is standing still.

Time is standing still? Does that mean we can do whatever we want for as long as we want but no time is passing?

Yeah, that’s what it means.

Cool, we can go away for like a year and when we get back nothing changed.

Well, that’s if no one finds the hourglass.  If someone finds it and the last grain falls, we’ll be in trouble for getting home late.

So, what should we do?

Let’s wait and see if it’s going to fall.

That could take forever!

I know…

Dilly’s Wash

Dilly went to the laundry mat
to fold up all her clothes
she felt a little jittery
because that’s how her life goes.

She folded up her strapless bra
and bed for all the kittens
The linens from the dining room
A hat and a pair of mittens.

A jacket made of softer skin
soft as a full grown doe
The gloves that matched were also clean
the leather seemed to glow.

The capacious dryer held so much
her elbows fit the door
The low price of the wash machine
made washing no big chore.

The man that ran the laundry mat
roistered in the back
a blind man with a ton of clothes
Was filling up his sack.

When all the wash was finally done
Dilly picked up her full bag
She’d have a week or maybe more
before her clothes would sag.

She said goodbye and took her things
yelling that she’d see them soon
a witty goodbye from a little girl
whistling a happy tune.

Three Things Challenge #385

For 3TC: https://pensitivity101.wordpress.com/2020/10/11/three-things-challenge-385/

Your three things today are:

SONG
HYSTERICS
MOVEMENT

When Billy and I walked into the house my mother was in hysterics. We had no idea what she was crying about and then I saw movement in my peripheral vision. Turning that way I saw a giant spider. No wonder she was freaking out! I started wailing too and our noise was sounding like a rock song. The loudness must have scared the creature away because suddenly we were alone and Billy was rolling on the floor laughing.

The Cat’s New Game

The Cat in the Hat
came back to the house
He knew that the kids
were with mom and her spouse.

He took out his fist
and knocked on the door
The kids they were happy
to see him once more

He told them he wanted
to play a new game
he said he would tell them
Choo Choo was the name.

He said that the game
was to work as a team
to fit each together
like a train full of steam

Hold on to each other
march along like a group
walk in a circle
make a big, giant loop

Then make a loud noise
like a whistle of steam
isn’t this fun
to work along as a team

The Cat said goodbye
when he cleaned up the toys
Choo Choo was a great game
even with the loud noise.

The Bird – The Sunday Whirl: Wordle #477

Thanks to Brenda for hosting: https://sundaywhirl.wordpress.com/2020/10/11/wordle-478/

The Bird

I’ve heard there’s a bird
who was grim and was blue
he didn’t have much
that he liked to do.

He’d dribble when drinking
and groan with each bite
Other birds stared with pity
some knew he wasn’t quite right.

From up in the tree top
amongst leaves and debris
the bird was disgusted
and wondered how this could be.

So with a smile and a shrug
he acquiesced to his prowess
he decided to figure
to rid life of its foulness.

Instead of his usual
crying high in the tree
he decided his bawling
was in no way healthy

with a ruffle of feathers
and a flick of his beak
up the treetop he went
and he began there to speak

It was inevitable that he
got right to the tip
done lamenting on faults
his attitude did flip.

He looked at the sky,
and inhaled really quick
and fell to the ground
where the cushioning was thick.

He ran to the edge
of the forest he knows
and screamed from his lungs
He said “My old life blows!”

So a new life began
right there on the spot
the bird he was smokin’
The new bird was hot.

He had some new friends
and he laughed and he played
and with his new friends
is the place that he stayed.

Dead Woman Scorned Book Review

Book #2 in the Michael Clark’s ghost story!

48763943. sy475

Dead Woman Scorned by Michael Clark is book #2 in his series of modern-day ghost stories. Tim is just about to finish completing all the renovations of his haunted property, but the ghost is still angry with him and Holly for their actions in the first book. Now is the time to seek revenge.

Tim and Holly have developed both their relationship as well as a beautiful property to get on the market. They want to be done with the house; the ghost wants to be done with them! This story, while moving the plot forward, also brings the reader back to learn about the history of souls who have haunted the property. The biggest problem now is the public and the authorities are getting involved, possibly marring the property and leaving Tim unable to sell and get his head above water financially.

I give this story 4.5 out of 5 stars because of Clark’s ability to tie together so many intersecting lines, keeping the reader turning pages to find out what is going to happen next. At times some of the story lines seem a bit long but Clark has found a way to pull it all together at the end.  Each story line continues to seem believable, even if you don’t believe in ghosts. No spoiler here, but I am looking forward to getting my hands on book #3!
