Here are this week’s questions:

1.  Do you consider yourself to be romantic? I think being romantic is subjective. I mean I do like cozy dinners and candles. But what is romantic really? If I had to give a definitive yes or no, I’d probably say no since I don’t feel I have the right personality.

2.  Do you send cards on Valentine’s Day? Not anymore. My late husband always said that cards were a waste of money since they were costing upwards of $4 each and in my opinion, the quality was going down. Now I would rather send a card on a non-holiday since I think that is more special.

3.  Would you spend a considerable amount of money on a single red rose for your beloved? I guess if they really loved them. I always said that it was a shame that the price nearly doubled or tripled just because of Valentine’s Day. That I felt was a waste of money. But, that being said, I am always happy to receive any sort of beautiful flower any old day.

4.   What is your idea of a romantic evening? I guess maybe a quiet dinner at the table (versus in front of the tv) with a candle and some soft music playing in the background.

Gratitude: I am so grateful that there are people who truly love me, no matter what.

WordPress Question of the Day

What are your favorite sports to watch and play?

I have always enjoyed watching Football, American Football. I grew up watching it and have always seen at least some of the seasonal games. Now that I am understanding the rules more and more I do admit I like it more. My favorite team used to be San Francisco 49er’s until Dion Sanders left and went to Dallas. I didn’t have a favorite team for a long time after that. Then came a year that I decided I really needed to pick a team so I could cheer appropriately. I chose the Vikings because I love their colors.

This year as any football watcher knows, the Vikings are out. Throughout the season I did like Kansas City because I like Mahomes. I grew up in the northeast so I grew up listening to people rave about Tom Brady. Yes, he is fabulous, or was in his day, but he needs to retire. Mahomes on the other hand is good and young and has a good thing going.

My favorite cousin is an Eagles fan. I am technically a Kansas City fan for the Super Bowl. I still love my cousin!

From my desk: 01/31/2023

About two weeks ago David and I went to a home show in Sarasota. We walked around and of course got bombarded by sales people. We agreed to have an inhome consult with three companies.

The first was Solar. They never showed up, never called…

The second was windows and doors. Well, we had everything confirmed and when the sales person was more than 15 minutes late with no call we left a note on the door that we were not interested in working with them and gave the reason. If we are going to plan our day to include a sales call they can show respect and call if they will be late. Anyhow, we got calls after that for about 1/2 hour to an hour and text messages. One person said the guy didn’t show up on time and was unable to call because he dropped his phone in the toilet earlier that day. TMI and sounds stupid for a company to say that. Another text said they were sorry, the guy. was just running late, would we reconsider since he was still in the area. There were one or two others along with a few voice messages. I did not answer. I had given my reason on my note.

The third was also windows and doors. The meeting was supposed to be on a Thursday or something and that particular day I had not been feeling well. In addition, I had been to a number of different doctor’s appointments. We had not confirmed the meeting for that night but I did not answer the phone calls as I was in the doctor’s most of the day. Well, they called me 14 times that day between maybe noon and six oclock. The following day there were maybe 4 calls. Since then, every day except Sunday I have gotten a call from them at around 8:30 am. There is never a message with it. I don’t answer. I am starting to get annoyed. I do apologize telepathically that we did not confirm nor cancel but I think they should have gotten the hint. Now it is just harassment. I tried blocking the number but I am still getting calls. By that afternoon and after about 10 calls we had decided we didn’t want to work with them as they had no idea why we weren’t answering and I think that is too many calls. They could have sent a text.

I’m done with salespeople for a while. Sorry if you are “one of them”

Jim explains the different wood to burn

A Unique Title For Me

This is your cord of wood and the price that we agreed on was $300 Mr. Williams.  It is all seasoned hardwood and mixed with oak which produces a slow-burning fire that lasts longer and burns more evenly and hotter.  I included some maple which is heavy to lift, but it burns slowly so your fire will last a long time.  You should probably start your fires with the birch, as that burns quickly, and it gives off a beautiful flame.  I put in some cherry in your pile, which has a very pleasant, non-smoky aroma, although it does tend to spark a little more.  There is also plenty of hickory which in my opinion is the best smelling wood and it is even hotter burning than oak.  Your wife said that she didn’t want any firewood with bugs on it, but you know that I can’t guarantee that.  When…
