Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and has become a moveable feast of word or picture or music prompts to encourage us to write stories, poems, or whatever strikes our fancy. This month, the prompts are being provided by River at her blog, Drifting Through Life.
This week’s words are:
1. covered 2. alloys 3. skidded 4. potpourri 5. fixation 6. chemical 7. earmarked 8. lettuce
She skidded to a stop
when she saw the alloyed spot
earmarked for her fancy
an uncovered open plot
Fixated on the details
she wished to know it all
Why they picked this for her
why they’d even call
But then she saw the meaning
like potpourri upon a shelf
like lettuce with some dressing
it perfectly matched herself
A chemical reaction
which started in her brain
A shelter from the storm
Desperation was in vain.
