Simply 6 Minutes: At A Loss For Words

The Sound of One Hand Typing

Christine was nice enough to invite me to participate in this blog hop a few months ago, and I’m sorry that I haven’t participated in it very well. I know she goes out of her way to come up with picture prompts to inspire us to write. Were I more of a fiction writer, I would find them challenging and fun; as not much of a fiction writer, I find them bewildering. I really find myself at a loss for words. You might say I’m nonplussed.

Today, I decided that, no matter what the prompt, I was going to write something. And the picture you see above is today’s prompt. And I have no idea what to write, so I’m going to fall back on something she puts in the directions every week:

For any participants that do NOT like restrictions, please feel free to participate in any way you…

How old are you?
I don’t know.
How old am I?
I don’t know that either.
You don’t know much do you?
Actually I know a lot.
How so?
I’ve seen things.
What things?
Beautiful things, horrible things.
Is that why we’re here?
In a way.
What are we supposed to do?
Gather and learn.
Gather and learn what?
The way of Life.
What kind of life?
All kinds.
How do we record what we’ve learned?
We have a network.
What’s a network?
It’s a system where knowledge is passed from one entity to another.
How does it work?
We elders absorb data from our roots, transmit it up our bodies, and spread ourselves skywards.
Am I part of it?
You’re learning and will be.
So how long have we…

Steven’s Journey: Compilation 05/24/2022

Steven was weary and ornery as well
from constantly searching for gold
He searched the horizon and suddenly he thought
maybe he’s getting too old.
He stared out there blankly, thought maybe his eyes
were playing tricks on him just when he saw
A magnolia tree with big yellow blooms
Encouraging him to look more
Without the ability to deter his own mind
like a stain on a blank plot of land
the universe felt like it fell into place
like a fellowship to go hand in hand
He kept up his pace and decided that he
would look for a little bit more
when all of a sudden he stopped in his tracks
to see his loving wife right at their door.
He threw up his hands and dropped to his knees
from the sight of his beautiful love
And silently he knew just what to do
He thanked the God he knew up above.
A milestone reached right in front of his eyes
His joy spreading out as far as the sea
He found he could stop his pursual right there
For his love and him were meant to be.

Simply 6 Minutes – Welcome to the Challenge: 05/24/2022

Welcome to the 6 minute challenge!

Today’s prompt is:

https://ferrebeekeeper.wordpress.com/2013/01/18/the-dragons-blood-tree/amp/

*****For any participants that do NOT like restrictions, please feel free to participate in any way you would like. It is great to read the contributions!****

  1. Set up a timer or sit near a clock so you can keep track of the six minutes you will be writing.
  2. You can either use one of the prompts (photo or written) or you can free-write.
  3. Get ready and write for 6 minutes, that is it! Can you write a complete story? Can you think of a new Sonnet? Can you write 400 words? 400? 500? There are no restrictions on what kind of writing you do, but you should try to be actively writing for six minutes.
  4. After you are done writing, include your word count and then post back to this page #Simply6Minutes or include your link in the comments section. Pingbacks are enabled.
  5. *Feel free to leave your work completely unedited. I believe it is good to see, especially for new writers, that even very seasoned writers don’t write a perfect first draft.*
  6. Have fun, challenge yourself if you’d like, read and respond to others’ posts.

Thank you for participating!
