Simply Six Minutes : 22nd February

Who can resist the eyes?

pensitivity101

Christine at Stine Writing is our host for the Simply 6 Minutes photo challenge. I have to admit I feel a bit sorry for this little chap.

My name is Sinatra and I’m what they call a hybrid.
Not quite sure which is Mom, but a test tube was involved and someone basically screwed up.
The stripes don’t totally cover my body though. If you look close, you can see the buttons on the shoulder of my jerkin.
It’s the face though, isn’t it.
Bit dramatic, but I suppose it could grow on you.
I don’t bite and a good house guard. Don’t quite know what you’d call me, a zog or a dobra maybe.
But for now, the eyes have it, and Sinatra it is. That has some class don’t you think?

Jim gives us some food for thought about cross breeding!

A Unique Title For Me

After successfully crossbreeding a male zebra with a female horse and creating a zorse, zebrose, zebrula, or a zebrule, Doctor Chester Bunting decided he would try crossbreeding a female zebra with a male horse and he was successful in creating a hebra, horsebra, zebret, zebrinny, or zebra hinny, whatever you want to call it.   Then he moved on to the zony, crossbreeding a zebra with a pony.  His next logical step was working with a zebra and a donkey to create the zenkey, zonkey, zebrass, or as some folks like to call it a zedonk.  Doctor Chester Bunting loved zebras, but he thought that maybe he could crossbreed them outside the equine family and he wondered what would happen if he tried to use a dog.  Doctor Bunting figured that he could make the perfect designer dog breed, if he were able to find animals that shared enough genetic materials.

SHARE YOUR WORLD 2-21-2022

Melanie hosts this weekly bout of questions…https://sparksfromacombustiblemind.wordpress.com/2022/02/21/share-your-world-2-21-2022/

  • Questions
  • What’s the most useful thing you know? How to read directions! I put all the stuff I purchase together. I have often thought about doing it as a side job…I’ve seen that advertised before. I’m very good at any type of directions
  • What impact do you think it would have on the world if bananas were illegal? I don’t think people would care. I think people would just find something else to use in its place. The world seems like it is like that. I would miss them.
  • What social stigma does society need to just get over? Race…Good Lord! How many pieces of evidence do we need to show that the human body is the human body no matter what color it comes in!
  • Do you prefer the moral viewpoint of consequentialism*, which focuses on the consequences of actions, or deontology,*  which focuses on the innate rightness or wrongness of the actions themselves?  I think both because it starts with deontology and then if people pick the wrong thing to do they deal with consequentialism.
  • con·se·quen·tial·ism
  • /ˌkänsəˈkwen(t)SHəlizəm/
  • noun
  • PHILOSOPHY
  • noun: consequentialism
  • * the doctrine that the morality of an action is to be judged solely by its consequences.

  • de·on·tol·o·gy /ˌdēänˈtäləjē/ noun
  • PHILOSOPHY
  • * the study of the nature of duty and obligation.

*****For any participants that do NOT like restrictions, please feel free to participate in any way you would like. It is great to read the contributions!****

  1. Set up a timer or sit near a clock so you can keep track of the six minutes you will be writing.
  2. You can either use one of the prompts (photo or written) or you can free-write.
  3. Get ready and write for 6 minutes, that is it! Can you write a complete story? Can you think of a new Sonnet? Can you write 400 words? 400? 500? There are no restrictions on what kind of writing you do, but you should try to be actively writing for six minutes.
  4. After you are done writing, include your word count and then post back to this page #Simply6Minutes or include your link in the comments section. Pingbacks are enabled.
  5. *Feel free to leave your work completely unedited. I believe it is good to see, especially for new writers, that even very seasoned writers don’t write a perfect first draft.*
  6. Have fun, challenge yourself if you’d like, read and respond to others’ posts.

Thank you for participating!

Reena’s Xploration Challenge #218

Well, it’s an image prompt. It shows a child looking at his image in a clear glass. https://reinventionsreena.wordpress.com/2022/02/17/reenas-xploration-challenge-218/

Mom, do you think I can fly like Peter Pan?

Jakie, you know that Peter Pan isn’t a real person and you know that people can’t fly. Do you remember what I told you about how birds fly?

But what if I covered myself in feathers? Look, there is plenty of space to fly over all those trees and come back.

Jakie, birds are birds and people are people. Peter Pan is a Disney character and you are a real boy.

So I’m more like Pinocchio then?

WORD PROMPT

pride

From https://thedailyspur.wordpress.com/2022/02/20/pride-3/

Having Pride

Having pride in nothing,
like nothing real at all,
is having dreams of nothing,
no good or bad to call.
Thinking that you have pride
is bad or incomplete
Is living life with nothing,
No good and bad compete
So keep your pride together
In check where you can see
That a little pride is okay
It showcases who you’d like to be.
