Well, it’s an image prompt. It shows a child looking at his image in a clear glass.

Mom, do you think I can fly like Peter Pan?

Jakie, you know that Peter Pan isn’t a real person and you know that people can’t fly. Do you remember what I told you about how birds fly?

But what if I covered myself in feathers? Look, there is plenty of space to fly over all those trees and come back.

Jakie, birds are birds and people are people. Peter Pan is a Disney character and you are a real boy.

So I’m more like Pinocchio then?

Having Pride

Having pride in nothing,
like nothing real at all,
is having dreams of nothing,
no good or bad to call.
Thinking that you have pride
is bad or incomplete
Is living life with nothing,
No good and bad compete
So keep your pride together
In check where you can see
That a little pride is okay
It showcases who you’d like to be.

So, now for mine….

As far as blogging goes…I wish there was an easier way to find old posts. There are some that I look for that I am not able to find no matter how I go about the search.

In the real world…I can’t stand that people who walk their dogs and they see that their dog wants to say hello to my dog shuffle them off as if I look like a serial killer walking Cujo. If you walk your dog and you have seen me more than once, meaning I probably live near here, then can’t you just let your dog say hello to my dog so they get it over with? Once my dog has met another dog he could care less…It’s just that initial sniff that he wants, probably to make sure we don’t get confronted by Cujo. I know not everyone wants to stop and be that social and there are times that both dogs seem to care less. I am just talking about the times that the dogs are trying to get to one another to the extent that they are still looking over their shoulders as you walk past. I guess I just think that if you are walking in public that means that you are not opposed to having public interactions.

Blogging Insights — New Format # Focus on Readers

What kind of content is great for readers? Won’t that depend on who the readers are? Unless you are posting with a particular demographic in mind, how can you predict what kind of topics will appeal to people who visit your blog?

I have mentioned in many of my posts that I wanted to start blogging after losing my husband. I have also told readers that my sister didn’t think people wanted to read about “my dead husband”. But that was not my intention even then. I think part of it was looking for the ability to “talk” to people, to find a community I fit in with. After losing my son I joined a support group and met a few other mothers who had lost children but I didn’t feel like I fit in there. The support group was great but it was really hard to think about all those other children who have died and also it felt off. I liked the group but I didn’t feel like it was going to be a long-term connection, and it wasn’t. Actually, COVID came and the groups stopped and you all know the rest of that…

I have found that my followers and other readers like some variety of writing. Some people like to read poetry, others like photos, sort of how I am. Many of the bloggers I follow don’t have a set theme per say, but rather they fit in with what the “community” is up to.

The one thing I do believe is that my honesty and genuine “personality” that comes out in my blog posts are what keep my site interesting. Sometimes it is sad, other times silly…nothing set in stone. I am not blogging to attract anyone per say. I just like talking to people and sharing in the activities of others. I like reading about what other people are doing and where they go. I love seeing pictures of the world, as I want to travel more than anything. I don’t base my writing on how many people liked the previous post…I just post!
