Questions
Which traditional Valentine’s Day gift would you rather receive: chocolates, flowers, or a card with a personal message? I love chocolate so it is a nice treat, even though I buy it so often that I almost ruin the “treat” part. Flowers are beautiful and always ping my heart. This year I asked for an orchid, which David got for me. I asked him to pick out a color for me and it is so beautiful. Cards are awesome because you can save “the words”. But…..Like I said, I buy chocolate a lot. Flowers not so much for myself. Cards are a bit pricy so I do feel guilt with that. So….If I had to pick one…I’d say surprise me, I’m not picky and I love them all if they are from someone who loves me.
Do you like romantic movies? It depends on if it is part of a good story. Pretty Woman for example. It is romantic but it is also funny and has a good story. I remember one of the first “romantic” movies I think I saw was On Golden Pond. I cried then and now that my father has alzheimer’s it has even more meaning. I haven’t seen the movie in so many years but I remember loving it.

Is Valentine’s Day only about romantic love? Or is it a good occasion to celebrate friendship as well? I don’t think of love as only romantic love. I think friendship falls under the occasion as does the feeling to celebrate children and family. I don’t really save my feelings for this day though so it seems like it is a day that I am reminded that it is the “social norm” to be about a lover.
How do you deal with unwanted romantic attention? I can’t recall this happening much. I’m trying to think back and the only time I can think of that this happened, maybe, is in college, but that would have been during parties and drinking so it sort of doesn’t count.

I am so thankful for David and all his love for me.
I am so thankful for my daughter and hope even though she lives so far away that she still feels my support.
I am so thankful for the close friends I have, and they know who they are.
I am also thankful for all I have. I am lucky. I am not rich but I don’t have to worry like so many people do nowadays. When I think of things “I need” I feel foolish sometimes. I think about little kids being hungry.
