jusjojan© LindaGHill

Linda is here with our final Daily Prompt of 2022. Today is January 31st, so this is the 31st prompt for Just Jot it January 2022, and it’s brought to us by Susan. Thank you, Susan! Please be sure to visit her blog to read her post and say hello. And follow her while you’re there, if you’re not already.

Our prompt for JusJoJan January 31st, 2022, is “facetious.” Use the word “facetious” any way you’d like. Enjoy!

facetious (fə-sē′shəs)

adjective

  1. Playfully jocular; humorous.
  2. Given to wit and good humor; merry; sportive; jocular.
  3. Characterized by wit and pleasantry; exciting laughter.

I used to wear a bonnet
a cap upon my head
now I wear a toga
round my body instead
I think I look more sexy
My cheeks are flaming bright
but being more facetious
was my major New Years plight.
The folks all look around me
like they don’t know what to do
Funny how a piece of cloth
can change the look of you.

Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge #154

This challenge is hosted by Fandango

Trevor walked through the park. He knew many of the guests would cringe once they saw what he was holding but he did this to show people that not all snakes are dangerous or gross. He could understand the fear, since fear of the unknown typically overrules. Snakes aren’t something people see everyday or are around. If you see a snake it is usually because you are out gardening or hiking and that is not what you are anticipating. Trevor knew all this and tried to teach the public that snakes were nothing to be afraid of.

As he walked, Trevor could hear the children squealing and the parents gasping as he held the snakes head to everyone to see. What they didn’t know was that Betsy, the python, was a people watcher herself and loved to see all the people ducking and jumping when they saw her. Betsy loved Trevor and was so happy to have him to walk her safely through the zoo without being squished by pedestrians or worse, zoo buggies full of food for the other animals. She couldn’t imagine her body bouncing back after being totally flattened. Because of Trevor, Betsy could be at ease and do her people watching silently.

Blogging Insights — New Format # 28

TODAY’S QUOTE :

“The first thing you need to decide when you build your blog is what you want to accomplish with it, and what it can do if successful.”

(Ron Dawson)

Many of the people who have been reading my blog since I started two years ago know that when I started my blog my sister had told me that “no one wanted to hear me cry about my dead husband”. That wasn’t why I wanted to start a blog. I think I just wanted the social interaction without the face to face stuff. I think I needed a place to talk to people about what I was going through without actually finding people and meeting up with them. Once I started blogging I realized it was so much more than what I thought.

Now, once in a while I do an update of myself, which I call From my desk, but not that often unless I have something I feel I need to speak about.

I love the challenges and all the writing. I guess all blogs are different and I was lucky to find one that is full of writers and other creative people. That is why I have stayed here. I think that is partly what a blog is supposed to do, help form some sort of community. The people I have blogging relationships with have things in common with me and I enjoy meeting up with these people on a pretty daily basis. I hope that someday, when traveling is safe and more affordable, I might be able to visit some of the people I have met.

So…in response to the quote: I don’t think it is completely necessary as long as you don’t have specific expectations. If you set expectations then you will probably be discouraged because I think the blogging community find each one of us, not vice versa.

Sunday Poser # 65

Welcome back to another Sunday Poser. Sadje is our host of this thought provoking challenge.

What are your views about the advertisements constantly shown on tv or splashed across the websites we visit, including Facebook, etc?

I must say that I am a marketers dream come true. Although I know that half the stuff I see is only half true I fall for so much of it. The one thing I do though is check pricing on things I might buy. By the time I am done checking various sites for different prices I realize that it is a waste of money and move on by. I also like the “As Seen on TV” stuff, which usually turns out to be crap. A few things have been awesome like The Original Vidalia Chop Wizard. Seriously, this is one of the best kitchen gadgets I have ever had and I used to sell Pampered Chef!

One of the things that immediately comes to mind that sucks is Egglettes Egg Cooker – Hard Boiled Eggs without the Shell

Another place I get sucked in is on Snapchat and Instagram. They show these things that people are using and I watch and look and want all the stupid stuff.

I could go on and on about different things I have bought and tried, saved and tossed, but I will save you the pain…

Three Things Challenge #860

Hosted by Di at pensitivity101! Thanks Di for this daily challenge.

Your final three words for January are:
X-RAY
YACHT
ZIP

A Storm is Coming

Riding in my yacht
water all around
I feel the winds are blowing
I hear their rushing sound
I walk up to the captain
with parka zipped up tight
to ask him whats the weather
on the up and coming night
He tells me “wait a minute”
he has to check the deck
the sonar and the compass
are his shiplike x-ray check
He says a storm is coming
and to hurry down below
I kiss his cheek and thank him
with a wink before I go.

Song Lyric Sunday

Hosted by Jim Adams

This week the theme is songs featured in films that made the charts (please make sure you reference the movie).

This sort of overlaps with EMKingston’s Sunday Ramble but I absolutely love this song…

Maybe because it reminds me of being a kid, maybe its because I love Snoopy….I used to have a Snoopy stuffed animal and multiple outfits to change his clothes. I also had a Viewmaster and Snoopy reels for it.
