Taking Your Writing Project from A to Z!! A Challenge for Those Who Stop at K or L!

This is totally me! My problem…I draw a blank and can’t even seem to come up with anything to continue.

Faye E. Arcand

Are you guilty of writing half way and then stopping?

Do you begin with a burst of adrenaline that takes you to the climax of the story and then you abandon the ending or the resolution?

Let me tell you, you’re not alone in falling off the mountain of projects, but I will say that it’s not a good feeling to have a bunch of half finished projects lying around. Ugh!

I want you to ask yourself…

What is a Writer?

If you look at a simple definition, a writer is one who “writes”. It may be someone who’s written a letter or recipe, or it could be an individual who has penned stories, poems, or books. While it seems simple enough it’s also rather complex when you try and define the actual work of a writer.

Is it someone who finishes their work and then shares? or is it…

Simply 6 Minutes Challenge: 24th August

This is hilarious and if you have a child who dresses the pets you’ll laugh as hard as I did! Thank you Di for the contribution!

Oh, I hope I’m safe.
I’ve tried so hard to please, but now it’s got beyond a joke. Why can’t she pick on the dog?
Oh, yeah, right. She did and he fell over not being used to having two opposite legs in splints, so actually ended up seeing the White Coat and having one put in plaster for real.
Course he got lots of sympathy and extra treats, plus my favourite cushion!
Then she turned her beady eye, grubby little hands and attention on me.
I squirmed and twisted, but she wasn’t having any of it and soon I was dressed in a pink onsie and lacy cardigan. I tell ya, my paws ain’t meant to bend that way, but did she listen?…

What a great poem, works perfectly and so sweet! Thank you for your contribution!

The Bag Lady

I’m not afraid, but I’m not bold

I rarely do what I’m told

I’m a special cat you see

What I do, I do for ME.

It was just this morning’s milk

Had been changed to the brand SILK

Now as healthy as a feline can be

This substitute is an atrocity!

Bring me whole or two percent

I’ll still smile with no resent

But other types, no thank you, sir

It has no appeal or allure

And while you’re listening to my wish

How about scrambled eggs on my dish?

And add a bit of shredded cheese

All of that would surely please.

Today’s prompt is:

*****For any participants that do NOT like restrictions, please feel free to participate in any way you would like. It is great to read the contributions!****

  1. Set up a timer or sit near a clock so you can keep track of the six minutes you will be writing.
  2. You can either use one of the prompts (photo or written) or you can free-write.
  3. Get ready and write for 6 minutes, that is it! Can you write a complete story? Can you think of a new Sonnet? Can you write 400 words? 400? 500? There are no restrictions on what kind of writing you do, but you should try to be actively writing for six minutes.
  4. After you are done writing, include your word count and then post back to this page #Simply6Minutes or include your link in the comments section. Pingbacks are enabled.
  5. *Feel free to leave your work completely unedited. I believe it is good to see, especially for new writers, that even very seasoned writers don’t write a perfect first draft.*
  6. Have fun, challenge yourself if you’d like, read and respond to others’ posts.

Thank you for participating!
