Song Lyrics Sunday: General Length or Size of Things

Check it out here: https://jimadamsauthordotcom.wordpress.com/2021/02/20/general-length-or-size-of-things/

I love music and I know the words to songs that would probably surprise most people who know me but I don’t know singers’ names or groups…well not a lot of them. So I wanted to participate this week and googled words to find a song. This is what I found……

They say there's a troopship just leaving bombay, bound for old blighty shore
Heavily laden with time expired men, bound for the land they adore.
There's many an airman just finishing his time, there's many a twerp signing on.
You'll get no promotion this side of the ocean, so cheer up my lads, bless 'em all.

Bless em all, bless em all, the long and the short and the tall
Bless all the sergeants and w. o. ones,
Bless all the corp'rals and their blinkin sons,
'Cause we're saying goodbye to them all, as back to their billets they crawl
You'll get no promotion this side of the ocean, so cheer up my lads, bless 'em all

They say if you work hard you'll get better pay
We've heard all that before
Clean up your buttons and polish your boots
Scrub out the barrack room floor
There's many a rookie has taken it in, hook line and sinker an 'all
You'll get no promotion this side of the ocean
So cheer up my lads bless 'em all.

Bless 'em all, bless 'em all, the long and the short and the tall,
Bless all the sergeants and w. o. ones,
Bless all the corp'rals and their blinkin sons,
'cos we're saying goodbye to them all, as back to their billets they crawl
You'll get no promotion this side of the ocean, so cheer up my lads, bless'em all

Now they say that the sergeant's a very nice chap, oh what a tale to tell.
Ask him for leave on a Saturday night and he'll pay your fare home as well.
There's many an airman has blighted his life through writing rude words on the wall
You'll get no promotion this side of the ocean
So cheer up my lads bless 'em all

Bless 'em all, bless 'em all, the long and the short and the tall,
Bless all the sergeants and w. o. ones,
Bless all the corp'rals and their blinkin sons,
'Cause we're saying goodbye to them all, as back to their billets they crawl
You'll get no promotion this side of the ocean, so cheer up my lads, bless'em all

Nobody knows what a twerp you have been, so cheer up my lads bless 'em all

RDP–Sunday–Backbone

Check this out here: https://ragtagcommunity.wordpress.com/2021/02/21/rdp-sunday-backbone/

“Don’t you have a backbone?”
I don’t know how this means that you have guts!
And how does having guts make you stronger? Don’t all people have guts?
Does having guts mean you are careless since you might try stuff other people won’t?
If you “have no backbone” how are you surviving?
When I think of no backbone I think of jellyfish but then I wonder how anyone can say that a jellyfish is a wimp? Have you ever been stung by a jellyfish? They might not have a backbone but they sure do get you good!
This then makes me think of all the other things that don’t have backbones but that could still kill you, like a snake.
Do spiders have backbones? I don’t think so but they sure are brave going wherever the hell they want regardless of who cares or not.

21st February – Building the World

This week is Engineers Week, dedicated to the field of engineering and inspiring people to become involved in the field. We’re joining in the celebrations by dedicating this week to everything engineering in fictional worlds.

  • Who is your favourite fictional engineer?
  • While most engineers like to use their skills for good, some of them don’t; which “mad scientist” engineer caught your attention?
  • In fandoms, engineering expands into new (and usually weird) fields; what one would you like to learn?
  • More importantly; who’s teaching the class?
  • Famous engineers are often depicted in fandoms, which has been your favourite portrayal?
  • Which fictional engineers would you like to see team up for a mega engineering project?

Well, this will be quick: Up until probably my mid-twenties I honestly thought an engineer was someone who drove a train. Okay, laugh all you want. You would love to know that I was super confused when my best friend told me her husband drove trains in Boston; he was hired to be an engineer.
My son wanted to be a mechanical engineer. He would have been great.

PROMPT WORD: RODEO

___________________________________________________________________________________

Marcus knew his plans to take Billy to the rodeo were solid and it would be a great day with his son.
He had everything prepared and the only thing left to do was pick Billy up at his mother’s house.
After the flawless pick-up, the two were on their way to the rodeo at the old arena downtown.
Billy loved the time with his dad and knew the rodeo was going to be a great place to go.
Unfortunately, Marcus spent most of the time looking for Billy who got lost in the shuffle at the entry gates.
He had never felt this kind of fear in his life; luckily Billy was a bright kid and knew to sit in one place until he was found.
