Question Fun – S4 – G3

Rory has questions very out of order today! https://aguycalledbloke.blog/2021/02/17/question-fun-s4-g3/

Question 7
Does ‘methodical order and sequencing’ really matter?

It totally depends on what you are doing. I am a bit OCD about things so if something is supposed to be in a certain order then put it in order. I have to step back if someone is not doing “the right thing”.

Question 3
Given the choice which  historiographical era could you live in comfortably if you had to go back ‘in time’ and why do you think you could?

I’m so not knowledgeable about historiographical eras but according to what I found on the web I would probably be happiest in the Modern Age. I love how so many things in art were expressed during this time. I think I would love being educated by one of those fabulous artists.

Question 9
What type of advertising really ticks you off as in – it doesn’t matter what the product is … because of the way it is actually advertised you become instantly annoyed and hostile with the medium? … this is NOT a political campaign question!

The one absolutely worst commercial that makes me so mad is for Liberty Mutual Insurance. It shows kids on Christmas morning and the first kid opens his gift which is the insurance. The second kid gets asked what he got and he says just a bike and kicks his bike. I think this sends such a bad message to kids. Do you know how many kids would kill to have a new bike? With the pandemic I am sure there were kids in this country that didn’t get a thing. It is such a bad message it makes me sick.

Question 83
What topics or passions could you write freely and knowledgeably on for say 3000 words if you had to?

I think I could write freely about what I think kids should be learning from a very young age. I have strong opinions about what children should be exposed to and think that a lot of the issues in young people is that they think they are the centers of tiny universes. There isn’t always a feeling like we are all part of a big world.

Question 2
What could you NOT do for money – given the obvious – so this is not about harming yourself or harming or murdering others – so aside from that side of things – what could you not just do for cash?

I could never be in a room full of spiders. I could never eat snails.

Question 1
When was the last time that you read something and it touched you in some deep dark way?

I’m not sure if I have an answer for this….

Question 101
How did you murder that person and how did you get rid of the body?

I slipped a little poison from the rat poison into the delicious dinner I made. After he died I drove out to docks and pushed his body off the dock. After that I threw extra chum into the water to attract as many fish as possible to eat the body.

    • I just think that there are so many needy children in our world, why would you ever want to portray a child who is mad about getting a bike for Christmas? I mean they could have had the other kid get insurance from Geico or something…

  1. Remind me to not get on the wrong side of you Christine … chum is apparently welcomed a lot in the waters these days 🙂

A room full of spiders .. as in caged or loose, l guess it might not make much difference to someone who doesn’t like spiders. i totally understand your dislike of that advert and advertising like it .. as an ex advertiser l scratch my head at times in utter disbelief as to where some o these advertisers were trained.

      • Wow, that is some serious arachnophobia Christine, did you have a bad experience with them at any one point in your earlier years?

      • Rory, I guess I must have but I don’t recall. I actually went through therapy for it because I have these awful spider nightmares. I have no idea why. There are a few i can look at but there are also some that just the thought of them causes me anxiety.

      • Hey Christine, l can imagine – did the therapy help you any? I knew a chap once who went through therapy and came out the other side and started to collect spiders, but he was rare.

      • I did this therapy called EMDR. It worked to the point that I could see a spider and not have a full panic attack. I also stopped having the nightmares. Unfortunately with some of the trauma I have had over the past 3 years I have had a few nightmares. My anxiety level skyrockets when I think of certain spiders. I don’t know why I get so worked up but it just happens.

      • I know, it probably doesn’t fascinate you as a subject like it does me.. but l am intrigued as to how your fear developed. I wouldn’t say l love spiders, but l do like them a lot.

      • When I was in therapy for it the only thing I could ever remember was from when I was probably 4 or 5 years old. We lived in a split level house and there was one of those giant wood spiders half way down. I honestly dont even know if this really happened. I think the thing that made it so much worse was this one year that we had this spider nest in our yard. We saw it hatch. The next year there were spiders everywhere! I had to spray out in the yard. I remember one day spraying over 60 spiders. That I remember so clearly and that is what most of my spider nightmares sort of center on. Right now I can feel my anxiety level increasing just thinking about that spider. I know so many spiders and the kinds of webs they weave. There is one other horrible one that I recall. It is found up in where the wall and the ceiling meet. They are under this webby nest. I can picture it and it makes me a nervous wreck. I have to remember that it isn’t happening.
When my kids were little I tried not to show them fear. Now my daughter is also deathly afraid of spiders. About six months ago or so she called me in the evening to go to her apartment because there was a spider.

Crazy thing: my father just looked over at me and asked me why I had “that look” on my face. I didn’t even notice.

      • Well Christine, that certainly sounds like the core of the fear sadly.

Have you ever thought of writing the fear down into stories to see if that alleviates it at all?

      • I have! I have done so many things. When I was student teaching the mentor teacher had me do the unit on spiders with the kids to desensitize myself. So now I’m not afraid of those little plastic spiders they sell at Halloween! Bahahaha!

      • Excellent … it’s funny l remember many years ago when l was married that my wife’s sister had a ‘love’ of spiders or so her sister informed me .. so l wrapped up a Christmas present for her, many layers with plastic spiders in each layer .. she kept on screaming between the layers and l thought it was for fun … but no it was pure fear. she could just handle the plastic ones, not real ones!!

I never realised before that day how much rivalry there was between the two sisters!!

    • Some people don’t understand that kids don’t have to learn everything about everything but it is good to introduce them to as much as possible so they have a broader view of the world around them. Years ago I had a student who was telling me about going to his grandmas. He said they had to go over a bridge. I asked him what they would do, how would they get there if the bridge was out. He said they wouldn’t be able to go. That’s it, bridge out, you don’t go. He wasn’t so young to be able to know that there are other routes you could take should that happen, he just never had!

    • At the Asian market near me they sell a whole package of snails, probably at least 30, for only about $5! Talk about restaurant markups! A few years ago we went out to dinner and my son wanted to try escargot. He knew what it was. Later that night I asked him what he thought. He said they were good until the last one where he could feel the antenae on the head and it almost made him throw up! Lol
