Stream of Consciousness Saturday

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “the beginning, the end.” Write about the beginning of something and the end of  something. Bonus points if your first sentence contains “the end” and your last sentence contains “the beginning.” <– Read that again. Have fun!

I often find topics ironically fitting for life’s happenings.

Everyone will have their time

The end of the road is now coming
prepared you may be, or maybe not.
there’s no way to stop it or start it
it puts your life right on the spot
to figure what else you must do here
before it’s your time for farewell
Answer the unanswered questions
for there in your mind they still dwell
think of the things left to do here
and all of the things that you’ve done
don’t cry for the ones who are left there
For you a new beginning’s begun.

Three Things Challenge #494

I haven’t been able to participate like usual but today I am making it a priority to get to some writing! To participate in Three Things Challenge go to Di’s page: https://pensitivity101.wordpress.com/2021/01/30/three-things-challenge-494/

Your three things today are:

MEANING
REGULAR
WORDS

When I think of the meaning
of what we call life
I think of myself
as mother and wife
the regular things that I like to do
like express with my words
and sing a bit too
I often find now
that I don’t have the time
but thinking of blogging
is still so sublime.

Writer’s Workshop: Eat Your Heart Out, Dorian Gray…

John’s contribution! I love it!

The Sound of One Hand Typing

This week’s question: If you could live the rest of your life at an age of your choosing, what age would you choose and why?

Initially, I thought this question was the same as this one, where I was asked where I would like to retart my life. My answer then was 17, and I gave my reasons then. Here, I would remain the age that I specify for eternity or something awful happens. In that case, I would say…

Before I get started, though, I want to make it clear that, if were to stay at 25, I’d want Mary to stay there as well. We have been married 43 years as of today, and at this point I can’t see where life would be worth living without her.

So, why 25?

  • I’d be done with college. If I were to say 18, then I’d just be starting…

https://www.someecards.com/memes-lists-comics/memes/27-hilarious-parenting-memes-every-stressed-out-mom-needs-to-see/

*****For any participants that do NOT like restrictions, please feel free to participate in any way you would like. It is great to read the contributions!****

  1. Set up a timer or sit near a clock so you can keep track of the six minutes you will be writing.
  2. You can either use one of the prompts (photo or written) or you can free-write.
  3. Get ready and write for 6 minutes, that is it! Can you write a complete story? Can you think of a new Sonnet? Can you write 400 words? 400? 500? There are no restrictions on what kind of writing you do, but you should try to be actively writing for six minutes.
  4. After you are done writing, include your word count and then post back to this page #Simply6Minutes or include your link in the comments section. Pingbacks are enabled.
  5. *Feel free to leave your work completely unedited. I believe it is good to see, especially for new writers, that even very seasoned writers don’t write a perfect first draft.*
  6. Have fun, challenge yourself if you’d like, read and respond to others’ posts.

Thank you for participating!

The Sunday Whirl

To join in the fun go to: https://sundaywhirl.wordpress.com/2021/01/23/wordle-492/

It’s a vicious mix of drink
No justice til you’re done
Say cheers to those who think
You’ll never be the one.

It settles in your gut
even when you sway and weave
You climb down off your shelf
you brush dust off your sleeve.

It’s a line of chain events
which tell you who’s the boss
stuck in a sticky web
you’re surely meant for loss.

So you send a friendly wave
and call to those nearby
In a month or two
They won’t remember you didn’t try.

Book Review: Everything We Keep

29639736. sy475

Everything We Keep by Kerry Lonsdale is a suspenseful read that will bring you along all the twists and turns that Aimee, the main character, goes on. Heartbreak, lies, secrets, and new love all thrown together for a trip of a lifetime.

Aimee is getting ready to walk down the aisle with the love of her life. She is devastated to learn he has died in an accident on a trip to Mexico. She is not sure how she will go on, what she will do, or what move to make next. She has a feeling that James survived but doesn’t know how to find the truth or if she even wants to know the truth. Slowly moving forward with her dream of owning her own shop, Aimee is sideswept again, testing all her decisions she has made since losing her fiancée.

I give this story 3.5 out of 5 stars. The story is intriguing and offers a ton of secrets and twists that will keep you guessing. The plot keeps moving but has many subplots which makes it somewhat confusing as to who is presently active in her life and who is just a piece of her past. Without being a spoiler, there is an epilogue that will interest any reader into reading the sequel, Everything We Left Behind: A Novel.

The Spark

When I look at you, I feel it.

When I think of you, I feel it.

When I talk to you, I feel it.

The spark that you ignited
when you told me you love me
burns so brightly
and feels so good.

#SoCS & #JusJoJan 2021 Daily Prompt – Jan. 23rd

To participate go to: https://lindaghill.com/2021/01/22/the-friday-reminder-for-socs-jusjojan-2021-daily-prompt-jan-23rd/

Since I just started a new book online I decided to go to the page I left off on and point to something on the “page”.

It is from the book “A Haunting at Gallagher Hotel” and I pointed to: woman was annoying

That Neighbor

When you see her you turn away

You can’t let her face wreck your day

She talks and talks like a senseless goat

She wears odd shoes and an old wool coat

She likes to talk about her hair

And how she can’t breathe smoky air

She smokes all day its sort of sick

Quitting that might do the trick

She tries to take you out to lunch

Her pickiness gives you a hunch

The biggest problem with this meal

Is she only eats food she can’t feel

She asks for soup without the things

Like veggies and those pasta rings

There is no place to go for that

I think she thinks they’ll make her fat

And so I see her on her way

I see her coat and how her hips do sway

That annoying woman from up the street

I turn real fast before we have to meet.
