Mr. Berry

Mister Baxter Berry
lived out by the trees.

He hated to have visitors
he was very hard to please.

He’d walk alone in darkness
he really loved the night.

We thought that he was creepy
to see him caused us fright.

When one day we went looking
to see how he had been.

We only found the remnants
of the house that he lived in.

Tale Weaver/Fairy Tale – #297 – The Witches Garden – 15th October

This week Michael asks us to venture into a Fairy Story around the theme of  The Witches Garden.

https://mindlovemiserysmenagerie.wordpress.com/2020/10/15/tale-weaver-fairy-tale-297-the-witches-garden-15th-october/

Sophia’s Garden

Beyond the broken fence post
and far beyond the wall
there is a tiny garden
where witches come to call.

If you are to come here
bring food and water too
you may never leave this place
the witches wait for you.

Sophia stood before the fence. She knew the rhyme; her mother had been saying it to her since she could remember. She just didn’t know if it was true or just one of those tales that someone starts to make someone else scared. The one thing Sophia couldn’t make sense of though is the fact that there was a little garden right on the other side of the fence in their yard. If it was only a scary story, why did their yard fit the story so well. Sophia just stood there, staring, contemplating whether she walk over to investigate or not.

I Can’t Stand You

Is it good enough to know
that you annoy me today
Just like any old busker
who thinks I want to play?

But the button you’re wearing
on your old, awful car coat
It is ugly and awkward
why do you stand there and gloat?

You think that the crop
you hold in your hand
will make me cry out
and there smirking you stand

You elevate yourself up
above everyone and me
As if Friday is your date
but just wait and you will see

That the hunt is still on
Call it hysterics, you will
but how you irritate me
It is not a good thrill

Here is movement away
from the pack with your friend
It’s a pattern you’ve had
You’re a pest to no end.

If I have to go now
and write down all of my words
it is through poetry
that sounds like songs of some birds

Today I’ll go down the street
with a swipe of my hand
Giving you a thump on the head
with the vamp of which I stand.

The Boy’s Boat

Mom, mom! Look, it’s the boat I want!

Jimmy, first of all, that boat isn’t for sale. Secondly, do you really want a pink boat?

Mom, It is beautiful. It is the color of a precious rose or a newborn baby girl’s blanket!

Jimmy, when have you seen a rose that color?

The last time Dad brought you roses.

Um, I don’t think you were even born then…

Okay, it’s like the roses Dad pointed to and said you would like.

Well, that sounds closer to the truth! Now, what about this baby blanket? Since when were you paying attention to the “blue is for boys, pink is for girls” stuff?

I’m not. Why?

You said pink like a newborn baby girl’s blanket.

Oh, yeah well, I’ve never seen a baby boy.

Ah, anyhow the boat isn’t for sale.

Well, someday I want a pink boat just like that someday!

Emergence: Book Review

5 Star Customer Service Award

Emergence by Shira ShiloahPicture 1 of 1

Emergence by Shira Shiloah is a captivating medical thriller that will keep you wondering how evil can surpass true caring and professionalism.

Roxanne Roth is a dedicated anesthesiologist, proud of her experience and compassion for the patients she treats, but no one wants to listen to her when she tells them that Dr. Webb is purposely killing his patients.

Dr. Webb is an experienced neurosurgeon with a side to him no one who works with him ever witness. His recklessness spreads far beyond the operating room, to partying, prostitutes, and drugs. He has a clean record as far as anyone can see but, does he really care about being a doctor?

I give this story 5 out of 5 stars for the fast-paced plot and believable characters. The story is a mix of Grey’s Anatomy meets Dexter. Even when you think the evil is about to end, hold on for a spin, where trusted professionals are put to the test to protect their own reputations. Although the beginning is slightly confusing as you try to sort out who the main players are and their roles, every aspect of this story rolls out nicely to provide a quick read and unbelievable plot. It is a medical thriller that will make you think twice about the doctors you choose when you must go under the knife.

Emergence Book Blitz!

Emergance.jpg

Genre: Medical Thriller

A SCALPEL WIELDING VILLAIN.

A HEALTHCARE SYSTEM THAT FAILS.

A WHISTLEBLOWER THAT PROTECTS HER PATIENTS – NO MATTER THE COSTS.

Trusted anesthesiologist, Dr. Roxanne Roth, is healing from the loss of her fiancé by consuming her time with work. It doesn’t hurt that her new love interest, Dr. Justin Kirkland, spends almost as much time at the hospital as she does.

Entranced in the throes and complications of new love, Roxanne looks forward to work every day. Her time at the hospital would almost be cathartic if not for Dr. D.K. Webb, a neurosurgeon, who is quickly amassing a pile of complaints – and bodies.

Despite trying to avoid Webb, Roxanne finds herself working alongside the doctor during a routine, low-risk surgery. Fueled by cocaine and ego, Webb intentionally sabotages the case, leading to the patient dying on the operating table.

Roxanne’s tenuous grip on recovery is shattered with her patient’s death, quickly replaced by anger and a drive for justice. Now Roxanne will do anything to protect her patients from the killer on the other side of the sterile surgical field—before he can silence her as well.

In this gripping, sinister medical thriller, Dr. Shira Shiloah will leave readers wondering about the potential evil lurking behind every surgical mask.“Authentic characters and a vivid hospital setting enhance a tense medical tale.”– Kirkus Review
