A New Kind of Miniature!

I love anything miniature!
I love building my miniature houses
I love little things…

I made this for my father. He has dementia but can remember back in the day when he had a huge garden, with all the different vegetables.

Do you have someone who loves growing vegetables, wants their own veggie stand, or would rather move fake veggies around than real ones?….let me know….
I would love to make veggie miniatures.

Simply 6 Minutes

Welcome to the challenge: A day late…The Labor Day Holiday got me all messed up!

Today’s Prompt:

*****For any participants that do NOT like restrictions, please feel free to participate in any way you would like. It is great to read the contributions!****

  1. Set up a timer or sit near a clock so you can keep track of the six minutes you will be writing.
  2. You can either use one of the prompts (photo or written) or you can free-write.
  3. Get ready and write for 6 minutes, that is it! Can you write a complete story? Can you think of a new Sonnet? Can you write 400 words? 400? 500? There are no restrictions on what kind of writing you do, but you should try to be actively writing for six minutes.
  4. After you are done writing, include your word count and then post back to this page #Simply6Minutes or include your link in the comments section. Pingbacks are enabled.
  5. *Feel free to leave your work completely unedited. I believe it is good to see, especially for new writers, that even very seasoned writers don’t write a perfect first draft.*
  6. Have fun, challenge yourself if you’d like, read and respond to others’ posts.

Thank you for participating!

Here is my contribution:

Marcia stood outside the ice cream shop. She didn’t know if she wanted a sundae or a cone. Then once that was decided, then it was picking a flavor! There were so many choices. Next came toppings. She knew that decision would have to depend on whether she picked a sundae or a cone. She just saw a family get out of their car, walk up to the window and order! How can anyone do this that fast?

Brian stood next to Marcia contemplating the flavor of ice cream he wanted. He knew he wanted a cup because those damn cones lose their ends and he always ends up with ice cream all over his shirt. Next he would have to decide on toppings. He would wait until Marcia decided though since they would be sitting right next to each other during the show and he didn’t want something that would clash with the smell of hers.

Debbie couldn’t believe the line! How could it take people so long to figure out what they want? Most of these people probably sit and contemplate and then order the same damn thing every single time. I mean who goes out for ice cream and doesn’t order their favorite flavor. Debbie knew everyone there probably had more than one favorite but it was still pretty easy to pick.

Awaken the Three: Book Blitz!

I’m excited to share Awaken the Three (Highglade #2) by D. L. Jennings, a must read for Fantasy readers who love imaginative new worlds and epic adventures!

Awaken the Three (Highglade #2)

Expected Publication Date: August 11, 2020

Genre: Fantasy

Beyond the Wastes of Khulakorum, a storm is rising . . .

The Shaper of Ages is gone, and along with her, the Breaker — yet gods are not the only threat to the peace of the living.

Aldis Tennech, the once-great general of the armies of Gal’dorok, finds himself in exile. His only hope of reclaiming glory lies in the hands of a self-proclaimed emperor, and the unearthly powers that put him there. Meanwhile, improbable alliances are forged in the north as unexpected enemies rear their heads and threaten ruin-with a single thread in common, connecting them all.

In the sequel to his award-winning novel Gift of the Shaper, D. L. Jennings once again brings to life an epic tale of war and chaos as earthly armies fight for otherworldly prizes. Ancient powers lying dormant must be called upon, bringing strength to those who need it and conquest to those who seek it; battles will rage and cities will fall, but only the most desperate or reckless would seek . . .

. . . to awaken the three.

Gift of the Shaper (Highglade #1)

For thousands of years, the Breaker of the Dawn has been locked away in the ethereal plane of the Otherworld. Now, a young blacksmith’s apprentice finds himself trapped in a war between the noble Athrani, a subset of humanity gifted with the ability to transmute matter, and the malevolent and powerful Khyth, who seek to free the ancient god from his prison.

When his father, Olson, is kidnapped, Thornton Woods and his childhood friend, Miera, must leave their small village of Highglade to find him. On their way, they are joined by Ynara and Kethras, cat-like humanoids called Kienari, who use their skills as hunter/trackers to follow Olson’s trail. When it comes to light that one among them possesses the key to the Breaker’s release, Thornton and his friends must defy the might of the Khyth as armies on both sides collide in pursuit of the ultimate prize.

Gift of the Shaper chronicles the epic struggle between the existing forces of good and evil, with both sides vying for control of the key that unlocks the Otherworld. The very powers of creation and destruction hang in the balance, and only a heroic effort by Thornton and Miera, backed by the power of the Athrani, can possibly stop the Khyth from unleashing ruin — and the Breaker — upon their world.

I am…

I am not unique
I am not distinct
I am my mother’s baby
I am my father’s daughter
I am my sister’s sibling
I became my husband’s wife
I became my daughter’s mother
I became my son’s mother
Years later I became my husband’s widow
A year later I became a mother who has lost a child
I became my boyfriend’s lover
I am still my daughter’s mother
In the end, I am just a moment.

5 Fall Favorites

https://saltedcaramel670.wordpress.com/2020/09/08/5-things-fall-favourites/

I used to love fall, autumn…I do only a little bit now.

  1. the cool evenings and warm days
  2. it seems to me that life slows down for just a bit after all the summer craziness
  3. candy and little kids dressed up
  4. my birthday and all the birthdays in fall, there are so many I share November with
  5. The colors of the leaves

In fall, there is a spider here in the Northeast US that haunts me in every way, which is why fall is no longer my favorite season.

Truthful Tuesday 9-8-2020

Frank is our host and here’s his thought provoking question today:

Why did you start blogging, and is your reason for blogging still the same as when you started, or has it changed?

I started blogging for a few reasons. The first was because when my husband passed away I thought I would somehow have tons of extra time. Another reason is because I needed an outlet, and not just a friend to “bitch” to or talk to, just a way to express myself. I actually loved the idea of people commenting and all that, so I had other opinions, but without the stress or obligation, I guess you could say, to respond or give a reason for what I had written.

I am not sure I can say that my reasons have changed per say, but I do blog now for additional reasons. One of those is the connection I have with people who have similar interests and ideas and another is to improve my writing. I find all the challenges and input from bloggers has helped me develop a stronger voice.

Wandering

(This is a One-Word Poem, using the title – Wandering – as my one base word. Enjoy!)

Once I was drawn

To a place that was grand

A place with no anger

The sand slips from my hand

Where the sounds are so weird

They whisper and blow in my ear

And I take in each sand grain

And hold it so dear

And I try not to gnaw

At life’s finest wire

Holding me near

As I wander.
