Nerd: FOWC with Fandango

The Old Lady

Once there was a lady

Who looked just like a nerd

She knew that people liked her

But who, she never heard.

She went to watch a movie

And sat there all alone

She didn’t have a partner

She never had a phone.

Her head was feeling heavy

She wanted just to sleep

They told just to go home

Her money she could keep.

For Robert Shipp:

yellow boat

Boat Trip

Taking a trip in the big yellow boat

Finding a vessel that will stay afloat

No sharks around

No evidence found

Make sure you leave me a note.

Sunset Cruise

Marcus looked at the boat. This is not what he had in mind when he booked a sunset cruise for him and Veva. He was completely confused. How would he and Veva fit in that boat with a… a captain? Is that even what you call someone who rows a rowboat? Did that boat even have a motor? He was starting to feel a pit in his stomach. Maybe this was only the boat that took them to the sailboat. Marcus chuckled to himself, feeling foolish for jumping to such a silly conclusion.

Veva arrived at the marina on time. Marcus had told her he had a surprise and that she should get to the marina by six. Walking from the car, Veva saw Marcus talking to an old man. They were pointing at a yellow rowboat. Was Marcus going to row her out onto the open ocean. What had he planned? How was she going to get out of this?

Fandango’s Dog Days of August #27

Written for Fandango:

Today’s theme is “your favorite beverage.”

Let’s see…

In the morning I like a cup of coffee with Almond milk creamer. I used to use regular creamer but there is quite a bit of artificial junk I don’t need.

I like to drink iced tea. I like the Crystal Light kind, fresh brewed, bottled…I like a light amount of sugar and a splash of lemon.

I love a good, cold Jack n’ Coke every so often, but love love love Margaritas. I am also very partial to Beefeater and Tonic with lime.

I drink water all day, every day. With the heat I have been using Propel powder in my water with Electrolytes because I constantly feel dehydrated.

Thanks for reading!

I almost forgot, and don’t ask me how I could forget this, but I love going to local wineries! A nice, sweet white is so delish!

Simply 6 Minutes – Escape

Trish’s contribution to Simply 6 Minutes.

There is only one way
To escape this cell
These planks of pain
Their own form of hell

The light beckons
But the light kills
Many have risked
Its radiant kiss

It sloughs off skin
Melts through flesh
Inhales each scream
As limbs fall away

Like a helpless babe
You cry and crawl
There is no escape
Passed that white maw

Too late one sees
The rot that seeps
At the edge of light
Sucking greedily

There is only one way
Only this chance
That traffic through agony
One person will advance

But will it be me?
There is only one way.

  2. Set up a timer or sit near a clock so you can keep track of the six minutes you will be writing.
  3. You can either use one of the prompts (photo or written) or you can free-write.
  4. Get ready and write for 6 minutes, that is it!…
